We're glad you came by, but you might find what you're looking for elsewhere. TI-Basic Developer is not the site it once was. While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Both are active, well-established forums with their own archives, chatrooms, reference material, and abundant coding tools and resources. We'll see you there, we hope.

Hello, I find this website very useful but I can't find the information I need.

- How do you make applications for the TI-89 in the computer/notebook and THEN transfer them to the calculator?
- Is there a way to test your applications right when programming them, in the computer, before sending them to the TI?
- Is there a specialized software for TI programming?
- Maybe another BASIC-based programming software?
- What is Assembly and is it better than simple basic?

My answers are as follows

You write them in ti-connect and then use a link cable to transfer them to the calculator.
if you have an emulator. search emulator in the field up top to see more
Sort of. Programs are made on the calculator using specialized software, but they can also be programmed on the computer using emulators and ti-connect.
yes, it's called computer basic and there is are many free downloads and tutorials on how it works.
Assembly is to basic as Javascript is to html. It is better, but it is much harder to learn and write. We don't use assembly here, so if you want to use it that's a question for google.

don't exclude everyone as non asm users. I am learning asm and am actually getting fairly decent at it. (Why won't that sprite display!!!)

Actually, if You have an 89, it would be worth your while to learn C an use TIGCC (Google it) to write C for the calculator.

Asm for the 89 is extremely complicated if I remember correctly… even harer than z80 ASM.
