help! why does my hash program hash different inputs starting with something between a-z ,and some other characters all hash to the same thing???

ex:
hash("a0")=hash("b0")=hash("c0"{)

and why does my "base string" thing keep on changing some characters around? "w" becomes "[A]" for a second and "??" and "p" become "Str6" when i recall the string??

i cant send hash 2x to compete as sha 3 like this. does this happen to you when you download this as well??? why does this also happen on the 83+ from the ti sdk???

forget it. i rewrote the string. i think that i have gotten rid of the strange stuff

first, type on the homescreen:

"[H]"

Make sure that it's the matrix H and not just letters.

Then, press 2nd, sto→, 2nd, Ans, enter.
It shows Lcm(
That's so weird.

Although that has nothing to do with your program, it's really cool.

can people please try out my HASH 2X program? i really need some reviews for it (not just good or bad, but something like, "this part is useless" or "i found a collision" or something of the sort).
The program is now open, so anyone can see it. I even included the picture of the algorithm

It hashes the string – pull up Wikipedia or most anything on cryptography to learn what that means.

bxsciencer, does your diagram really outline all the steps? If not, could you expound on it a little more? Because I can't seem to correlate it with much of your program…

oh yeah. i thought architeuthiskid was talking about taking the token and the other stuff i dont really know about and hashing it (yeah. what in the world???). im stupid.

and yes, the diagram is the entire algorithm.

the basic idea is:

input string
input output length (by characters, 
not bits)

create a new string by taking the 
characters in the odd positions and putting
them together and the even strings and 
putting them together.

then, there is a slightly complicated, 
but fast expansion algorithm that shifts
and somewhat pads the string

the entire string is transformed into a 
list according to str0

the last number is added to the first,
and the entire list is cumulative summed
twice and then moded with the numbers
2^32-1, 154, and 16 depending on the 
round number.

the list is then shrunk until it is the 
sizeof the requested size, and 
mod 16 again

Finally, everything is changed back into 
a string in hex

just read the code. i left it open, finally
i hope i have enough time to finish everything NIST wants so i wont get kicked out of the competition

the computer version of HASH 2X is finally out, thanks to my friend. its different from the calc version, but does the same thing.

to run it, you need to download Python
