Hello there!

I thought it was a good idea for a first post on this forums to introduce myself.

I'm The Renegade a 15-year old student from Belgium, I'm a schoolmate of mapar007 who has recently joined this community too,
and I love playing RTS games (Age of Empires, C&C, Total War series,…) and basketball.
The interest for the exciting world of programming began 1 year ago when I started making some Visual basic programs. About 2 months ago I also started learning C++. An enthusiastic mapar007 made me decide to also take a closer look at this language, TI-basic.
I hope I can improve my programming skills with this language and hopefully I'll contribute something to this community.

I'm now glad that I know I'm not the only nerd (preferably "smart person") at my age.

I don't know, I've been working with basic for 2 years and I turned 14 in april.
edit: I prefer nerd. I figure that if I accept who I am people will laugh at me less.
The Renegade: You're lucky you have mapar007. I go to a large high school (attendance in the thousands) and I haven't met another nerd in any grade yet. It's very hard having a friend base that thinks you're measly calculator programs are revolutionary pieces of awesomeness (they have no clue what ti-basic is)

although I do not have to deal with thousands of people laughing at me, I still have quite a few.

I also prefer being called a nerd. I just did not want to offend anyone.

I wouldn't call myself a 'nerd', neiher would I call somebody else a nerd. I've got a lot of non-programmer friends in my school and in the basketball club.
that i'm interested in programming doesn't mean I haven't got any friends, programming is a hobby just like another not a way of life.
just wanted to make that clear

I tend to use the term 'geek.'

I'm 15 as well, but in my school with all 75 people in my grade, I'm the only one who knows anything about the calculators.

Actually, I'm the only one in the school who knows anything about calculators.

It's kind of sad.
