Well, after finishing the randomizer (many thanks to those who helped), I moved onto a conditional to determine the type of draw you have (Flush, Straight, etc.) and tried to formulate equations for them. I have tried to produce something that covers the rules for poker and accurately ranks draws, but nothing has worked. Please post any suggestions and knowledge you have pertaining to this topic. Thanks!
LOL that's pretty funny.
The best way to learn how to play poker is to play it yourself. Now, this involves gambling so it may be frowned upon but find an online game like Zynga Poker or something and play it. Once you have a good idea how to play start thinking of algorithms and methods to design a game. Be sure to ask for help from here for optimization.
Have fun. Don't forget what kind of poker you will create (Texas Hold-Em, 5 Card draw, etc.)
The man shuddered as the shadow drew a glistening sword from his back. Creeping closer and closer with his pale eyes burning into the man, the shadow slowly raised his blade and before he could thrust it down, the man heard the shadow hiss something.
"The Shadow Clan's presence must be like a whisper. Always felt, but never seen…"
I was working on the same thing (Texas Hold em) a couple years ago and recently picked it back up. It deals cards to you and between 1-4 computers, checks for hands as cards are flipped, and determines a winner. The only part I haven't finished is the computer betting, mainly because I want it to be able to anticipate the possibility of having a good hand (i.e. four out of five flush/straight cards) and not just what it currently has. Might have it the way I want it in a few months.
