This game idea came to me in the earlier months of 2013, as I was exploring a lot of the game design for windows platforms. I had typed a lot of it down on my laptop, which I had reset a few months later, but I have a notebook with a bit of information in it and most of the idea is still in my head. This game is probably going to look like many of the earlier zelda games, because I love zelda, but the story line will be much different.
Long ago, The White Goddess created the land of Alenia. She created the towering mountains, the gentle clouds, the rushing rivers and the beautiful trees and plants. She then created humans and animals, and separated the humans into 4 tribes, that would work together, strive together and aid to each others weaknesses. She created each of the tribes out of each element. Out of the rivers, lakes and oceans, she created the Aquestians, the water dwellers. Out of the towering mountains, she created the Rocklites. Out of the trees and foliage, the Leavkress, and out of the sky and clouds, the Skyreems.
She gave each of the tribes an ancient stone that contained mystical powers that protected them, and provided magic so that many of the people could learn to harness magical powers to protect themselves and their people from the monstrous creatures that threatened the people. The Aquestians received the ancient sapphire created from the purest waters of Alenia. The Leavkress received the Emerald, pulled from the forests of Alenia. The Rocklites recieved a gem created of pure obsidian, created from the innermost lava of the earth. Finally, she gave to the Skyreems, a diamond, the color of light blue and as pure as the air itself. As each of the tribes helped each other, the gems glowed bright in the ancient temples that they were kept in.
For many centuries, all 4 tribes helped each other. The Aquestians provided water to the Leavkress for growing plants. Skyreems and Rocklites communicated together at the top of the highest mountains, and brung each other many gifts. The Rocklites provided stone for building, Aquestians provided water for living, Leavkress provided wood, lumber, herbs for healing, and food for everyone, and the Skyreems controlled the airways, transporting each of the goods in between each of the tribes.
However, as new kings came and went throughout time, the tribes grew greedy and kept their goods to themselves. They always needed more. The fought in wars, destroying much of the land and creating greater and greater conflict. The Aquestians flooded the mountains, eroding the Rocklite's homes, and flooding their villiages. The Leavkress refused to deliver food, starving many of the other villages. As time went on, all but the Skyreems gem had dimmed. The Skyreems had chosen the correct choice of being peaceful while destruction continued on the earth.
As many years passed, this conflict rose. Finally, King Airom of the Skyreems decided to act. He had seen the destruction take place from the beginning of his lifetime to the present. Airom went up to the temple, where their own gemstone had been place since the beginning of time, and put an offering for The White Goddess, seeking an audience with her. She appeared, and addressed his problem by giving him a prophecy..
"In 100 years time,
A hero shall rise,
To unite all the tribes,
And to restore balance and Peace to all the land"
(I know, corny right :P)
100 Years Later….
Anyway.. I know some of the names and stuff are pretty bad, so if you have any suggestions, just post them below…
Alright, so the main character is born 100 years later, and his name is Malek. He was born into the Airleem tribe
and he learns the magic of air, and learns to control a bow and arrow and sword.
The game starts in Maleks home, a simple bedroom, and a door. A messenger runs into the room, and says, "Malek, you are late for your practice! Come quick to the weaponry. King Ryke needs to see you tomorrow for a demonstration before you go off on your journey. Be sure you are prepared!", and he runs out of the room. You leave out of the home and follow him, to the weaponry…
Game Playthrough and Stats
You will have potions and abilities assigned to F1-F5, a magic bar and a health bar.
Most of the game is you going throughout the world, on paths and through caves and forests, fighting monsters and leveling up. You also upgrade weapons at stops along the way, learn new skills, etc. As you reach each new tribe, you spend a bit of time doing quests and overall convincing each one to stop fighting and to revert back to helping each other out. As each one does, you gain more powers. Then after making each tribe happy again, there is this big ceremony where the white goddess gives you incredible power, and all the land is united in harmony again.
As for graphics, I was thinking the style of the typical older GBA zelda games, with tile mapping and sprites with X-Lib.
SO, I am open to suggestions on anything, features, names, story line etc….. I haven't started anything yet :P, and right now, its more of an info, feedback and suggestion thread, but I am going to start on the title screen today or tomorrow and go on from there. This will be the main discussion and updates thread..
1: Add choices in the game that lead back to the story line.
