While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Why does the memory restore function not work these days?

When i first had my ti84+, the mem restore thing in omnicalc worked. now, i have a se and it doesnt work at all. i have uninstalled omnicalc, deleted the app vars, clicked the "mem restore" box in omnicalc a bunch of times, and erased my calc. even after so many different things, the memrestore function just wont work. the instruction manual said to put 0 as the argument, so i do. i tried 0 as well as all of the other letter variables, but when i press enter, the error "data type" comes up.
is it because of tios 2.43? i think it cant be since it worked on tios 2.41 on my ti84+ , but not on other people's calcs either when i sent omnicalc to them and tried it, no matter if they had 84+ or 84+se and had tios2.41. does the memrestore function only work on OSs that come before 2.4x?

You do know that in order for things to be restored, you have to first turn your calculator off to back up everything.

And i'm not sure, but i believe that garbage collecting may delete any backups.

yeah i know that you have to turn the calc off. i just tried to restore the ram after making an empty program, turning the calc off, and then deleting the program, without garbagecollecting, but it still says "err:data type"

Do you have any other assembly programs such as xLib?
Do all the other functions work as well?

well, i have calcutil and symbolic installed. do you think that they are affecting the memrestore function?

nope. i deleted all of the appvars and restarted the calc, reinstalled omnicalc, made an empty program, turned the calc off, deleted it, and the memrestore still says error

Its possible, try uninstalling them/delete them

I mean do any of the functions besides memrestore not work.

1) reset your ram
2) Go into the omnicalc app, and make sure the restore memory (se only) is checked.
3) exit omnicalc
4) turn off your calculator
5) turn it on
6) follow these instructions:

Functions : RAM Recover
The RestoreMem() feature, if run on a TI-83/84 Plus Silver Edition that has the "RAM Recovery"
option enabled, will restore the memory from the last backup point. The calculator must have been
turned off at least once for this function to work. This function may turn off your calculator in the
process. If the screen goes blank after running, press On to turn the calculator on. Your memory
should be restored.
Syntax: RestoreMem(0)

all of the other functions work i think, since all of the other functions return numbers and stuff, or at least do not return errors.

and to graphmastur's instructions: i did all of that. i usually used theta on my 84+ (before it died) because it was usually 0. now, when im trying the memrestore, i use not only all of the variables, but also 0, and it keeps on returning "err: data type"

when i check the entries menu that omnicalc provides, the real(32, changes to ? rather than some more interesting characters (₄,▶,x,etc) like when other functions are used

I have a calculator that does the same thing. I've reset all memory, reloaded the os, and reinstalled only omnicalc. I have 2 other 84+ se's, and they both work, as well as my friend's.
