I don't know if this a problem with my computer, or calculator. It's more like a connect problem.

Connect problem

Hi, I just joined, like, 10 minutes ago, and I haven't used my connect cable in about 2 or 3 days, and when I plugged my caclulator in,(in the same USB port as usual), it said: "Unknown device found", or something along those lines. So I turned my computer off, and waited for a few minutes,then turned it back on, then, after everything was finished loading, I turned my calculator back on, and my computer recognized What it was, cause it said: "Ti-84 plus silver edition", but
apparently thought that it wasn't installed, because then, it said: "New hardware found", and then an installation wizard thing popped up. I've tried to
fix it, but nothing's working. Any help is appreciated.

first of all, I am guessing you are using windows xp. I am also assuming that you use ti-connect.

here are the steps:

1) insert the cd for ti-connect
2) install ti-connect
3) hook up the graph-link.
4) open the installation wizard
5) click "Install the software automatically," then click "Next"
6) It should search for the software and then install it automatically
7) just right click a file and then click, "send to Ti-device"

Not really. But thanks. What confused me is the fact that it is already installed, and I successfully used it for 3 months before this
problem occured. I think it's more of a computer problem, than a calculator problem. I'll try defragmenting my computer, and a few
other things. What really sucks is that I was going to release a game. Oh, well. The programming community will have to wait. *Sigh*

If it worked for you previously, maybe you downloaded some spyware or malware that messed up your computer. If you use any of the file-sharing software, I know those all have that side effect.

Yes, I do believe some internet sites give you accounts and certain amounts of storage that you can put files into. I don't know what effect that has on Ti-connect, but I would just reinstall it anyway.

This is the only site I have a membership to. Also, when I plg in my calculator, and the error
message popped up, I clicked on it and opened up the details for the calculator. It said that it
doesn't have any drivers installed. I tried reinstalling ti-connect, and it still doesn't work. The
funny thing is, that everything else works fine, and my calculator can connect with other
calculators, so I have no clue what's going on.

update your tios to 2.41 or 2.43. they are more "detectable" to the computer, as i found out when i reinstalled ticonnect every other day

Ok. I've heard that when you update your OS, it clears your ram. This
probably won't be a problem, but if it clears the archive too, I'm in trouble,
because I don't have a backup calculator. I'm in the process of selling it.
Anyway, about the OS, can you get it on ticalc… wait… I can't update my
OS because I can't connect my calculator to my computer. Crap. Well, I'm
buying an 89 Titanium soon, so I'll probably just use that from now on. The
only downside is that I'll have to take the time to learn 68k Basic, and 89
assembly. I guess I'll just have to get a new connect cord, and replace my
calculator. If that doesn't work, then I have the worst luck of anyone in the
calculator world. *sigh*

YESSS!!!!! IT FINALLY STARTED WORKING AGAIN!!!!! I was
reading about someone else who had the same problem,
and I found out that I hadn't installed the drivers, because
I plugged in the calculator before ti-Connect was installed!

Just a note: 68k Assembly is really hard to learn. However, you can program for the calculator in C, via TIGCC.
