Hi guys,

I just downloaded the emulator called WabbitEmu for the 2.55 TI-84 Plus SE. I don't really know how to use this… I wanted to make a video of the code of a program I made and share it with a friend of mine on Facebook.

First, is there a way to make the calculator show it's buttons? I had to write down every single button and its corresponding button on my keyboard. I would like to use the mouse and click buttons on the virtual calculator, but I don't know how to do this.

If this is impossible is there a different emulator that anyone could recommend? All I know is how to code BASIC, I don't know a lot about emulation, assembly and other complex things like that.

Help please!

Under the "View" menu, check "enable skin".
You can try TiLP (I used it until I reinstalled my OS and couldn't get it to work) or Kerm's jsTIfied (though it lags quite a bit).

The key things I tend to use:

View>Enable Skin to show buttons. If you disable this, you get a framerate counter which can be useful, but often not accurate.
Calculator>Enable Sound for anything that can work with sound. If you just do this normally, you will hear a clicking which is actually correct. If you plug in speakers to a real calc, this is what you would hear. Sound emulation is pretty decent.
Calculator>Options is where you can change things such as grayscale emulation. For proper emulation, using several shades with a steady frequency is the most accurate. However, remember that this increases the size of a .gif. Where a still image might be 1 or 2KB, an animated GIF with 12 level "perfect" gray for any extended amount of time is going to be several hundred or thousand times larger. That can really eat up bandwidth :P
F12 is the ON button
F11 opens the debugger, which is useful for assembly programs. If you wanted to experiment, press F11, then click on the main part of the debugger (you should see "Addr Data Disassembly" with stuff underneath organised in rows/columns. Click one of those rows). Press G, then type 9D95 and press Enter. Click the red "Toggle Breakpoint" button and now every time an assembly program is ran, the debugger will pop open. If you click the registers and flags tab on the right side, you can "Step Over" the code (I advise this over stepping through, especially if you aren't familiar with Assembly— it steps over bcalls and calls ).
Backspace will start recording a GIF

I just downloaded one too, but it says it has no OS. how can I get one for free? Also most of the time I attempt to re-download it, it just says I don't have an OS. Please help. Also, I'm not sure what it is, but whenever it denies the file, a bar on the starter (setup) says "Downloading OS" but I never see it move or finish. Is it really downloading the OS, and I should just wait? Thanks for help!

Please dont continue old threads, like this is beyond old.

you need to connect your calculator to the computer when it says downloading OS. New laws and rules made it that you cant distribute OSes but you can get them straight from your calculator.

Thanks a lot everyone. I never knew you could use sound in calculators… it seems my earphones won't fit into the jack, maybe its a 1.5 mm jack.

2.5mm is the size, but generally the sound can be difficult to work with. There have been a few really good Midi players made, and Brendan "calc84maniac" Fletcher recently released Steins;Gate 8-bit for the 84+C and the audio engine he wrote sounds like the best I have heard. (youtube video so you can hear and see it.)

I have a real bad issue with this app it will do everything else perfectly fine when it comes to starting a new ROM, but it will not let me download the OS for it. Every time I get that far and almost get done it pops up "error- unable to download OS file." It is really frustrating because I need it for my pre-calculus math class. Somebody please help me!!

try downloading the older version of the OS 2.43. It worked when 2.55 wouldn't

I have always wondered why most forums have a rule against replying to old threads.
Shouldn't we try to not make multiple threads about the same thing?

Yes, that is true; however, there is no reason to reply to an old question with information that was already provided in a previous answer. To quote the forum rules: "Don't reply to old threads (last post is more than three months old) unless you have something new and valuable to contribute; start a new thread instead." If you have a question that is an extension of a previously asked question, it may be appropriate to post to an old thread (depending on how closely they are related). I personally don't believe in completely closing "solved" threads as some forums do, but users should try to not bring old conversations back from the dead if they don't have anything interesting to add.
