Is there a way to hide programs on Ti 83

Is there a way to hide programs on Ti 83, so that you can't see them in the PRGM Menu?
Or a command that make a program delete itself?
I want to make my programs safer. I know, that you can set a password or lock the edit.
But I want to hide my programs from my teachers. And even if they don't get the program started, they would ask me questions…

P.S. Sorry if you can't understand something, because it's wrong. I can't speak English very well :D

There is a way to hide programs, but then you can't run them from the menu. If you need to delete a variable, then you can do this from the memory menu.

is this for the TI-83 or the TI-83+? If it is for the 83, I do not know it well enough, but if it is for the 83+/84+/SE calculators, I can provide an assembly code.

can you provide assembly code? and elaborate a bit on what it does?

I'm creating a large array of different programs, but i don't know assembly yet so I'm mainly copying. but I archive a lot of programs that are dangerous or not to be used (IE one use assemblies, like an off script, or my variable reset/primer, or lowercase enabler). or even just big ones i keep archived and than run it through another one that unarchives it (save ram space)

if your assembly just makes archived programs not visible in the program menu that'd be a huge help (I'm already at like 12, its getting crowded)

You could try using Doors CS 7 to hide programs from the program menu. If the issue is just having to scroll through too many programs, you can also press ALPHA followed by a letter to jump to that position alphabetically.

There is a way on the TI-84, not sure if the this works on a TI-83, but it should be the same.
Go to 2nd "mem" (the '+' key),
then go down to GROUP. Press enter on it,
then go to "Create New" then choose a name that you can identify it by.
Then, go to Prgm…
and choose the program(s) that you need to hide.
Press enter on the programs that you want hide, so that it selects it.
Then go to DONE, hit enter.
the programs that you chose are now backed up
To "hide" a program, delete the program from 2nd "mem", mem management, prgm…, then press delete on the program you want to hide. say Yes, I'm sure.
If you look in your programs, the one you hid is gone. :D

To get it back!
Go back to Group under 2nd mem group
go to UNGROUP
ungroup the group that you made earlier
TA DA your program is back.
Thgis method is also a good way to back up a program before you change it so that you dont make a really big mistake and cant change it back.

I was going to use a program to cheat with on my finals when my teacher announced that she will reset all calculators and check programs personally before the test. You saved my butt! Thanks man now I won't fail!

Sorry, I made a big mistake! I haven't got a Ti 83, it's a Ti 82 stats. I had confused it.
I was at the mem menu, but there is no entry called group. But I think it's because, i have got a ti 82.
Is threre a way to hide programs on a Ti 82 stats?

The TI-82 is a lot more primitive and apparently doesn't have the group option. You could possible back the program up on a computer, and then delete it on the calculator, but then you'd need to use the computer every time you want to use the program. Otherwise, you're pretty stuck.

Heh…well, actually, does anyone remember if the TI-82 supports archiving and assembly?

The TI-82 and the TI-82 Stats are a little different, but basically they work the same as a TI-83. They don't have archive, and to use assembly, I believe you have to use the hacky Send(009 sequence or something. Other than that, I do not know the system routine addresses, but the code would essentially be to locate the variable (on the 83+/84+ calcs, it is bcall(_ChkFindSym) ) and then subtract 40h from the first letter of the variable name in the VAT and that just hides it.

What do you mean by archiving? I never herad of that. And I think the TI-82 doesn't support assembly, but I'm not really shure about that.

Archiving is the process of moving a program from RAM to the Flash memory, also known as the archive (archiving).
Unarchiving is the process of moving a program from Flash to RAM.

Assembly would be the only way to hide them (it cannot be done in BASIC).

On the TI-83+, 84+, 83+SE, 84+SE, and 84+C SE, (as well as non-z80 models, like the TI-89, TI-92, TI-Nspire, et cetera), there are two types of memory, RAM and Flash. Flash allows you to archive (save) variables for long periods of time and doesn't get cleared by a RAM clear.

Thanks for all the help. I bought a TI 84 Plus Silver Edition and now I am able to hide my programs by making groups. But I have another problem. I want to hide mirageos, but it's an app, so I can't group it. Is there another way?

If you could hide it, how would you run it? You would need a program to unhide or run it, but then you can't hide that one, either. It would require some complicated assembly coding to hide MirageOS from the apps menu, too.

It depends. If you have the source code, you can try to recompile it using a different name. Alternatively, you could hex edit it in WabbitEmu, extract the app and resign it. I think that names are typically located at 4012h using the standard header format, but some apps are different.

EDIT: Also, I don't like the idea of trying to hide stuff from teachers. I don't want to aid cheating or anything like that.

FYI guys, TI-82 stats is almost exactly like a TI-83… And it runs asembly ! I already found some programs to hide / unhide / protect / unprotect (from edition) my programs, just look it up a bit on google you should find what you are looking for.

Can someone explain how to hide programs on ti82 stats. I already have some programs, but they are for the ti 82.

Do programs work on the newer calculator. If now are there any other ways?
