I remember my friend bought one for the sole purpose of trying to make me jealous. I was a programmer and my Ti-84 Plus was pretty popular in my grade. My friend bought a color edition to see if for once I would want his calc
I tested it out and was horrified at how slow it was. I made a simple guessing game and it feels like there's a For loop in between every command. Being a programmer I type pretty fast on the calculator (a test revealed around 70 letters per minute) and I had to slow down substantially to let the calculator catch up. The color screen makes it hard to see in sunlight and it will guzzle your battery quicker than an iPhone. It also has some different syntax for some commands which can confuse you.
On the pro side, it's, well, color. Having color would literally make your graphics glow. I hear you can import .jpg images from the computer in for a kind of background image on the calc so that's a bonus. A rechargable battery with a charging cord makes usage easier instead of having to replace batteries every few months. And as Xeda said Kerm has his new Doors on Cemetech which I think is up for free download.
It really is up to you. I personally would get the silver edition regular but that's just my opinion.
