As you guys probably noticed, I removed the sidebar on all of the content pages except the TI-83 and 68k homepages. I was wondering what you guys thought? Like? Dislike? If you guys like it, I think we should do the same with the forum (the forum sidebar would only be displayed on the forum home).
Dislike; also, can we please have 68k:start back? I'm sure you had a good reason for doing that, but it breaks the consistency of having all 68k-related pages in the 68k namespace.
If it's reverted, linking through the calculator images needs to fixed manually. (They led to pages that didn't exist until I fixed them just now.)
That's four dislikes, so I guess I'll revert it. The main reason I decided to try it out is because I thought the simplicity of just having the page content on the page would be nice. Unfortunately, it isn't very accessible, and it causes the content to stretch the whole page (which looks strange for some reason).
@DarkerLine: The reason I renamed the 68k homepage is so that I could keep the sidebar on the homepage, and still remove the sidebar on the other 68k content pages. There is no way to do that selectively for only one page in a category.
I don't like it. The sidebar made certain things easily accessible without having to look through the top menu. I personally think it should come back.
The navigation should be returned to all pages. I just feel lost otherwise. It also kills me to have that much extra whitespace!
I agree, too much whitespace! It looks very good how it was. However, I do like the way you changed the home pages to "home:83" and "home:68". DarkerLine is correct in that the consistency is simply not when you make it that way, however, I do think the word "home" should replace "start" - I never really liked Wikidot's default being "start".
Well, I like the home names as well, but I think DarkerLine is right that we should keep the 68k section of the site consistent. How about we just go with home and 68k:home? Would that work for you guys?
I reckon that's a great idea! And I'm glad you reverted it back to a side nav on all pages =D
It was a compromise of the best kind — everybody wins :D
And whilst we are on this winning rampage, is it possible to change the "forum:start" to "forum:home"?
Done. You should note, though, that it did cause some problems with the forum because it is set to go to the forum:start page, so I implemented a redirect to send it to the forum:home page.
Smart move, the redirect. Did it cause problems because of Wikidot, or because of the links we had to the start page?
