Hello! I'm Josiah W, and I would like to introduce myself to you.

I like programming games in Batch and TI-BASIC. If only my games were any good, or school and my mother were not in the way.

The first "good" program that I created myself is in the "Eye Candy Programs" thread in the "Program Challenges" topic. It is basically a drawing of Peter Griffin made to say, "I'm Peter Griffin. Buttscratcher, anyone?"

The way I got interested in TI-Basic is that I saw a YouTube video by brusspup about playing Tetris on your calculator. I later found out it was a fake. I soon checked if it could actually be done, and it could! That led to an extensive Google search about sites with such programs on it, and…well, here I am.

So that's all about me.

Oh yeah, and I know very little about the more "advanced" TI-Basic (I have learned the basics already), and I can not think up ideas for games. Please help solve these problems!

Here is the code I tried to put in at an earlier time for Pong (I'd only implemented the human-moving code at the time, and the other variables would be used later). It did not work. I use a TI-83+ model.

Aha, I like that, it's clever! I would suggest putting getKey→K in the While loop. Actually, I would use a Repeat loop (then you don;t need to initialise the K variable). You could do:

I would also use pixels, personally, since they should be faster to draw (when you use Pt- commands, the OS needs to convert the numbers by dividing the number by the ΔX or ΔY to convert it to a pixel coordinate anyways). Using the Pxl- commands will be faster for the OS to compute and draw, but you will also need to add in error checking to make sure the paddle is in bounds. The code you have looks quite good, though :D

The code you suggested works! And sorry, it is just easier for me to use the PtOn( and PtOff( commands. I'll edit it soon!

Cool, I'm glad it worked! As to the Pt-/Pxl- thing, I find that they both have their advantages and disadvantages. Whichever works best for you is what you should do :) Personally, I use pixel commands when I don't need to change the screen dimensions and I use point commands when I want to use the alternate types. For example, if you add a third argument to the Pt-On( or Pt-Off( command, you can draw using one of three types of points.
