Customized Menu Challenge

Alright, here is the challenge:
You must make a customized menu.
1.) It has to use generic strings for information.
2.) It must have a cursor of some sort which not let you move your cursor off of the screen.
3.) It must not use pics.
4.) It has to be less than 1,000 bytes of code.
5.) It must be written in pure basic.
6.) It has to allow you to easily select options and customize the result of each option from the 'Exec' function in the program menu.
7.) It may be on the graph or the home screen.
8.) You must have 8 options for the home screen or 9 options for the graph screen, and possibly more for extra points.
9.) You may not use the Menu( command.
10.) You must post your code in this thread.
We will vote on the best menu. May the best one win!

Can you please explain #6 to me? I don't understand…
I've got one, but it has 7 options (one line for the title of the menu). I also don't know if it abides by #6.

If you tap 'Pgrm' and Tap the '<' arrow once, you go to the 'Exec' menu, which allows you to give "links" to other programs in your code. You have to be able to customize the options of the menu and their results from another program, thus designing a good menu function that is better than 'Menu(.'

This is a good bases and covers all criteria except for rule 2 and rule 6 can be fitted in. I have altered it before to fit on a graph screen and you can "change pages" for more options. I am not placing this as my entry nor as a representative of xeda, although if i do happen to make an entry, it's would like similar to this

I tried uploading my program to the site. I doubt it worked but I did. I'm done with my program! It's a 970-byte scrolling menu on the graph screen that has a scroll bar to the site and can contain however many or few options as you like! However it must have a title. To set the options, do as follows:

:"Title,option 1,option 2,option 3
:PrgmMENU42

for however many options you want, each simply seperated by a comma.
Once an option is chosen, the menu exits and the option number that was chosen is stored in Ans
The scrolling is a little slow (it'd be so much better if I were allowed to use Pics!)

Inputs:
A, # of pages
Str1, Str2… StrA // 1 Str for each part of the menu
Ex: :1→A

Make sure the strings output right, each line 8 chars long. And the title should indicate what page it's on (prgm, exec, etc.)

I made this a while ago… Just fished it out heheh… So I'm plagiarizing myself. Dunno if that violates the Challenge Rules.
Anyhow, I think whoever wins this should replace mine with theirs, and update everything.

Ah, thanks. I noticed you didn't add the inverse char optimization from above. Is that because there's some speed issue with it, or did you just forget?

codebender's entry isn't meant to be a subprogram - it has Goto's! So it doesn't need to be customized outside the program.
Personally, I think this:

So I decided to use a variable output. But codebender's entry more closely resembles the Menu() command. It's really a matter of preference.

My entry is going to be something like this:
Put a string as Ans with the title and then options seperated by commas, and then run the program. it makes the menu with the options and title inside Ans

And then the number of the option picked is given as Ans once the menu is done, so you're free to do what you like with it. I'm almost done, only a buttload of optimizing to do!

And yeah. I guess I wouldn't really mind Gotos but I never use them since nobody likes them and they're supposed to be bad.

What about condition 6?
So, the list of things wrong with Goto:
It is quite slow, and gets slower the further the Lbl is in your program.
It makes reading code (your own, or someone else's) much more confusing.
In most cases, If, For(, While, or Repeat can be used instead, saving space and improving speed.
Using a Goto to exit any block of code requiring an End command causes a memory leak, which will not be usable until the program finishes running or executes a Return command, and which will slow down your program down.

What about number six? In my program it lets you customize the title and options outside the program before running the program, and the program ends with the option # as Ans for you to manipulate and use in the parent program. Isn't that what he wanted?

up to 7. It is kind of tedious to type the number before each item manually in a program but for my use it is easier to do than to use string variables.
After displaying the items, X is used to select the default highlighted item (usually 1, or 2 if a title is included) and L is used to define the number of items (negative if there is a title). I'll give an actual example:

*S1 is the name I used for the menu program.

So there are only 2 variables to keep up with, both real, and the selected item is returned into the variable X after a selection has been made. It is a little less than 294 bytes large (the version I use has the number inverted like a normal menu instead of a star placed next to it) so it is small and efficient.

The problem, however, is that there is no way to select options. If you refer to this from a program, there is a menu that appears and that will not do anything. Add in option selection. :)

And here's the code to my single page menu that I use for everything - It doesn't require string variables, only a string in Ans. It's 270 bytes. I added in burr's idea of the inverse key, so I suppose it will be 268 bytes. EDIT: After all the optimizations, 161 bytes with title MENUX.
