We're glad you came by, but you might find what you're looking for elsewhere. TI-Basic Developer is not the site it once was. While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Both are active, well-established forums with their own archives, chatrooms, reference material, and abundant coding tools and resources. We'll see you there, we hope.

Hiya everybody! I'm a 14 year old kid who lives somewhere in the US. I just started programming my calculator at the beginning of September and I love it! This is my go-to site for programming help/tutorial and I'm really thankful it exists.
I don't have any other programming experience at all… I really like math though :P
I also really like running, reading, speedcubing (any speedcubers here? I can solve a Rubik's cube in 19.56 seconds :D) listening to music (I really like Radiohead currently, they're phenomenal 0.0)

Finished projects:
-Distance formula program - enter two points, it gives you the distance in decimal and radical form
-Pythagorean program - enter two sides of a right triangle, it gives you the third side in decimal and radical form
-QFF (Quadratic Function Finder!) - enter three points, it gives you the equation of the quadratic function that passes through those three points
-Quadratic Formula - enter quadratic equation, it gives you the roots in decimal and radical form
-Systems of linear equations solver - solves systems of linear equations for 1-7 variables
-Temperature Converter - converts temperatures from Kelvin, degrees F, and degrees Celcius.
-Guessing game - my first game. modeled after the sample game in the Ti-Basic developer starter kit, but much more interactive and fun and with different modes!
-Move - my second game, also closely modeled after the sample game in the Ti-Basic developer starter kit "catch the star", nothing really special but lots of modes
Projects in progress:
-Counting sheep- a program to put you to sleep! A sheep goes across the screen, you input 1, another sheep goes across, you input two, and so on until you input the wrong number of sheep. Will include a high scores list for highest numbers reached! :D *waiting to learn how to use the graph screen before I make this one*
-"Draw" - a whiteboard program on the homescreen where you can move your cursor "*" around and use any symbols to make Ascii-type art
-"Faceoff" - my first real game! Two ships on the homescreen shoot at each other until one gets hit. Whoever wins wins.

Project ideas that haven't been started
-Minesweeper game
-Connect four?
-snake, of course
-battleship
-???

That's about all about me! I go by Simba or 42maelstrom, 42maelstrom is my typical username for websites and Simba is my programmer nickname :)

Since the start of September and you can do all that?!?! Wow, you have learned a lot in a short amount of time. Do you have experience in other programming languages or is TI-Basic your first? It's great to have you here Simba.

Hey it's great to hear from a fellow TI-BASIC programmer! If you want any suggestions on any of your projects (future or current) I'd be more than glad to assist you! I've been doing TI-BASIC for 4 years now, plus I know HTML, CSS, Batch, some VBScript, and a little bit of Javascript and C++. I've already made a working minesweeper game and a really addictive snake game plus many other programs, but I do have one question…

On your distance formula and other programs that output radicals, do they simplify the radicals?
For instance, do they display √12 or 3√2?

Anyway, good luck on your future projects!

For distance formula and other programs, it just outputs the radicals not the simplified radicals
however, that question was asked at an interesting time because earlier today I thought of the idea to make a radical simplifier. I haven't started it yet but the basic idea of how I would do it is something like *this very rough sketch*

input X
2->A
0->B
Repeat A^2>X
    If (X/A^2)=int(X/A^2) :Then
        A/A^2->A
        A+B->B
        Else
        A+1->A
        End
    End
output B
output radical next to B
output A

I remember thinking about this and realizing there was a problem with this but I can't think of it now. Don't tell me any clues on how to make the program I want to do it/figure it out myself! Once I make it you can show me the best way to do it but not yet :) and then I could add that code to all of my programs that use radicals.
