Plain and simple: who do you think will win the 2008 presidential election? I'm not saying it has to be who you want to win…Just who you think will win.
My guess: McCain
I think it's probably going to be a Democrat, since the country seems to be tired of Bush and the Iraq war.
Yes, I agree. It's a shame, though, that the Republicans aren't supporting Bush.
I bet Obama will win. ;(
Whoa, you mean there's a chance that SOMEONE is still supporting Bush? :P
I'm kind of neutral on this topic, though I'm betting (not literally) the fight is going to be between McCain and Obama.
See, that's what I thoguht at first, but Barack Obama will probly win over Clinton, and I thought that since he has like no experience and all, McCain will overcome him.
i think we should all just vote no choice and see what happens(like in the movie that i just cant ever remember the name of).
The worse thing you could do is not vote. After all, you get the government you pick.
I think Barrack will win. I'm not just saying that because I want him to win, but because there's good reason for him to win.
- We have had 8 years of stupidity with the worst president in history, so Republicans won't be trusted.
- Many African-Americans have waited lifetimes to see a moment like this, so they'll likely vote for him.
- Hilary Clinton supports Obama, so people who support Hilary might support Obama.
I do know these few things. Although I am a Democrat, this does not automatically make me a liberal. This does not automatically make me want the Democratic candidate to win. I want the president that I feel can do the best job, which happens to be a Democrat this time.
Remember, I respect your opinion. I do not laugh at you or treat you differently because of your opinion.
I agree with you to a certain extent; however, Obama keeps on saying stuff that does him harm.
Another thing to consider is the whole oil thing; all most people want is cheap gas soon.
I acknowledge the fact that no party has a perfect plan. The oil problem won't go away just based on a president's plan. People need to dump their evil Hummers.
With Hurricane Gustav, the Republicans need to be careful about how their convention runs during the hurricane or they won't be treated nicely.
First, I would like to know why you guys are discussing this on a forum dedicated to people who program on graphing calculators…
But I guess any topic goes in this nerdy and wierd environment.
I had a burrito for lunch today. What did YOU have?
Now seriously: I think Obama should and will win because, to put it simply, he is the better candidate. Maybe McCain would win under different circumstances, but following a period of eight years in which our republican government (yes they owned all the branches) dumped billions of our dollars down a big hole called 'Iraq' I think it's time for a more liberal perspective. After showing us they can't handle the presidency, the republicans don't deserve another try. I mean, Bush was the WORST president in HISTORY.
Have fun debating!

There's a simple answer as to why this topic is on this site in the first place: it's in the Open Topic section. :)
Don't forget: McCain is 70! I don't want a guy in office who might at some point need a pacemaker :D
Even older! McCain is 72!
McCain should have picked a more experienced VP in order to have any chance of winning.
The problem with the French is that they don't have a word for "entrepreneur"
They misunderestimated me
When I'm talking about myself, and when he's talking about myself, all of us are talking about me
Rarely is the question asked, "is our children learning?"
That makes sense to me, doesn't it?
When you say that he was the "WORST president in HISTORY", I would say that you are not misunderestimating him.
In response to Olin3434's WORST president in HISTORY comment, I'm afraid that there have been worse ones… Not any that I can think of, but I'm sure there have been… NOT! George W. Bush, quite frankly, is an idiot. A hypocritical idiot. A naive dyslexic hypocritical idiot!!! He's flushed this country down the toilet. Why, again did we invade Iraq? Oh, yeah. For oil. More specifically, for oil for George W. Bush. So while he's getting rich, the death count, last I checked, was like 65,000!!! (those are exclamation points, not factorial symbols) And don't give me that: "Oh, it's for the good of their country! We're making a democracy!!!" Crap. Somehow, they survived for thousands of years without one!!! It's just the stupid people of America, who think our way is the best way. So, I guess Earth should be: "The United Continents of America" I think Obama would make a better president that McPain. If we get another president like George W. Bush, I'm moving to Canada, or Norway. That is, if McCain hasn't closed the borders, or bombed everyone else. I can see the headline now: "US BOMBS CANADA! Quote from McCain: 'Any country stupid enough not to make money off Health Care must be crazy enough to attack us!!!'" Ha. Just wait. Get someone stupid enough, and it'll happen. Oh, and guess what, McCain fits that description, doesn't he?…
I'm sorry for ranting in such an off the topic of this thread way. I just needed to get that out.
Thanks. And yes, Bush has proven to be the WORST president ever. There has not been a worse president in history.
I understand your guys opinion of Bush, but please try to limit your lambasting.
Yeah, I was just joking around, but you guys seem to be getting a tad too serious.
PS. burr, it isn't like you to use improper syntax… You should get some sleep!
Don't worry. We're not gonna go around killing
Republicans. (At least, I'm not) We just don't like what
'Ol George has done to this country, and we're trying to
express it. If it's offensive, I apoligize. I didn't mean to
offend.

Offend? We should all be offended! This man has been lying and scheming behind our backs for 8 years. He used the terrorist attacks as an excuse to invade a Middle Eastern country, attempting to squash the energy crisis, whereas he only made it BIGGER. Please - he started a pointless war and has lost us trillions of dollars as well as thousands of brave soldiers' lives. Tell me who should be offended, the Republican party, or EVERYONE? I think the Republicans should be so embarassed that they shouldn't even RUN this year. And you guys talk about "sorry i offended u". What the hell?
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree.
I do believe the war in Iraq has been carrying on for far too long, but it was far from pointless. The terrorist attacks were believed to come from Iraq, and they went in to invade. Their main reason they were there was to stabilize the government. They did that a while ago, I think we're only keeping the troops in because Bush needs to make sure it's stable a couple dozen times.
Once again. That's crap. He did NOT go in there to:
'Stalbilize the Government'. He wanted money, and
unfortunately, he got it. If he wanted to stabilize the
government, and the people consented to it, WHY THE
CRAP WON'T THEY LET US??? The people of the
middle east have survived for thousands of years without
a democracy, I think we should just leave them alone
and let them sort it out for themselves. I do admit,
though, Olin3434 is, (in some cases), taking this from a
slightly wrong angle, (in my opinion, at least), in the fact
that it isn't the republican party that should be
ashamed, nor the people who originally supported
that bloodsucking parasite, but Bush himself. Most
republicans in this country probably feel almost as
cheated and lied to as us democrats. I admit, the
republicans should be ashamed that such an idiot was
spawned in their midst, but I think that this would be
a great chance for republicans to rethink their morals.
This, may I point out, did happen to the democrats, in
the case of Woodrow Wilson, and the presidents after
him. You see, Woodrow was a democrat, and was also
the last president to knowingly appoint KKK leaders as
Government officials. He was a horrible person. Note that today, the democratic cantidate for President is
black. This shows that the democratic party has
undergone some radical changes. Those of you who have heard otherwise about W.W. should read the book: 'Lies My teacher Told Me'. It is a wonderful, informative book, on how Americans have twisted our history, as to make it self golorifying, and to uncover the truth about the roots of this country.
-Architeuthiskid
yeah. like Architeuthiskid said: stabilize the goveernment???? bush wanted the oil, and wanted to show that he was better than his father, who did not take out hussein during the gulf war. now that hussein is gone, bush has accomplished his personal mission at the expense of 4000 or so american lives and a couple of billion that could have been used on anything else. America should have just gone to Afghanistan and only Afghanistan, because that was where bin laden was last (at least thats what they say), but nooo… bush just had to go and "help" the iraqis.

Ok, I don't know how I made a link in my post (that's cool!) but I swear, if you don't SEE it now, you must be dumb or something. Look anywhere. The only ones who don't admit it are FOX news. Don't get me started.
Hey I know this is slightly necropost-ish but look who's being inaugurated.
It's not really a necropost since it's kind of relevant and it's only been a few months.
Plain and simple: who do you think will win the 2008 presidential election? I'm not saying it has to be who you want to win…Just who you think will win.
I'm betting on Barack Obama

Do I get a cookie for guessing correctly?
Let's get this straight, right now. Barack knew his lines by heart, and was very much prepared to say them correctly:
US Constitution, Article II, Section 1
Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."
But if you'll watch the oath again, you'll note that Chief of Justice John Roberts is the person who flubbed his lines – he paused at the word "faithfully" and moved it to the end of the sentence (and had also said "President to" instead of "President of" as he was realizing his mistake). Obama reciprocated as though he were taken aback, rather than though he missed his lines.
He received words he didn't expect and understandably hesitated, perhaps to give the Chief of Justice a chance to correct himself. Obviously, he opted to repeat the phrase given to him to save any further embarrassment, but the stutter was not his fault. And as I write this, I hear CNN reporting the same thing, that the Chief messed up the oath for Barack. Honest journalism!
So, avoid this inevitable bandwagon, and please help others off of it.
I know, I know.
Still, if it was Bush..
I'd think he'd get a lot more crap then Obama did about it :S
