I was wondering what you guys thought of the characters block that I added to the forum side navigation in the bottom left corner? I got the idea (and code) from Goose's TI-83+ Font page, and thought it might work for the forum navigation too.
I like it - makes writing code so much easier.
Is there a symbol for pi?
Yeah, I forgot it though :D
EDIT: I did remember to add it; it is the π character.
EDIT2: I like it as well, so I decided to add it to the regular side navigation.
Is there any way to make it optional?
Or just have it when editing/posting?
Also, could you add it to the 68k pages?
I don't think there is a way to only display it when editing and posting because those things are controlled with javascript. I was actually going to remove it in the regular side navigation because it is kind of annoying :D
EDIT: It looks like you can add javascript to a site.
Well, the only problem with that is that I don't know JavaScript. So, I couldn't help.
But feel free to do it yourself if you know how!
Do you guys think it would be better in the bottom right corner like Goose's?
EDIT: I shrunk it down a bit and moved it into the bottom right corner. Is that any better?
Yes, it is much better in the bottom right corner!
I found a simple javascript accordion on the Internet, and modified it to work for our character bar. You can see it in action here: you just click on the "R" in the bottom corner to open and close the character bar. I think it looks nice, and I like the accordion effect :D Unfortunately, it appears that wikidot does not allow you to embed your own javascript in a page (you can only link to a javascript file), so I don't know how I can go about implementing it on our site.
I went to community.wikidot.com (Where there is a board for asking any question about wikidot, so any answer will be in the General Questions board for the thread Javascript (click here to visit)) and posted the question, so if there is a way, we'll know.
