Ti-Nspire CAS does not connect to laptop. Help!

I tried to connect my Ti-Nspire CAS to my windows 8 laptop using the Ti-Nspire Computer Link Software but the software failed to find the calculator. When I've looked at the device manager the calculator is detected but yet the software doesn't find it. I've tried almost everything and I've looked at most other threads related to these issues but none of them have helped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure what is going wrong, but you may want to try the TI-Nspire Student Software as an alternative to the TI-Nspire Computer Link Software.

When my calculator is connected the Student Software doesn't recognize it either.

Hm…

If you're connecting your calculator to the laptop with one of the computer's USB ports, try plugging it into a different USB port on the computer. USB ports can be kind of finicky sometimes, so maybe give that a try.

If the above doesn't work, then the problem is most likely caused by one of three things:

1: Your calculator has some bug/glitch. That seems highly unlikely, but you never know.

2: Something is wrong with your cable. That also doesn't seem likely, based on what you described, but again, you never know.

3: Something is wrong with your computer, which is what I'm leaning towards. I don't know what could be wrong with your computer, though. What kind of laptop are you using, and what operating system (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android) does it use? The more information you give us, the better we can help you.

I have 3 USB ports and I've tried all of them but none help in the connection. The cable is in good condition as I've only used it like twice since I bought my calculator to charge it.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion with windows 8.1, it has a Core I7, it has a RAM of 6G, and it is 64-bit.

In case it also helps, the calculator is about 3 months old and it's never caused any visible glitch.

Err, what exactly do you mean by this? Do you mean you can't send files?
