Now that I have more faith in the versatility of text sprites (not to mention I am exponentially better at making them than I was a few days ago, thanks to TIBD and its members*), I am starting to implement them into games for graphics and characters. However, I am having some issues. My major concern is this: whenever I make a text sprite with th small font, I have to put two spaces on the end of the string to get rid of the remains of the last actual character. However this creates problems when the sprite interacts with the rest of the objects on the screen. There is always a 3 pixel area at the far right end of
the visible sprite that will erase any pixels that are within this region. So if my sprite approaches a wall, once it gets any closer than 3 pixels away, it will start eating away at the wall. I was wondering how other people cope with this. This is is a general question, but I am currently working with a turtle, which is 12 pixels long, (not including the invisible 3 pixel area on the 3 right) and 6 pixels high (including the top row of blank pixels).
