The TI-73, TI-80, TI-81, TI-82, TI-85, and TI-86 also use the z80 chip.
(this is DarkerLine)
Good point! I guess I'll change it to TI-83 TI-Basic, unless you think there is a better name.
How about just TI-83 Basic? It's not as though there's multiple Basic dialects for the TI-83.
In the same way, we could make 68k TI-Basic into TI-68k Basic. I'm not sure about this one, though. Both variants have their drawbacks.
Well, what would you call the TI-Basic version on the TI-85 and TI-86? I really don't like any of the names for the TI-83 version of TI-Basic to be honest, but I think just using TI-83 TI-Basic is the most factual and appropriate.
I don't think I like the version with the white section to the side. The simpler version was better, imho.
So you think we should change it to use the side navigation that the rest of the site uses, or just not having a side section at all?
EDIT: Removed side section.
No side section. Plenty of time for that once the visitor chooses a calculator.
You should add, in the very top menu (where it says "TI-Basic Developer: The TI-Basic Information Repository"), two links, one which says "83 Basic" and one that says "68k Basic" each of which will take you to the homepage of that language. Therefore, it's faster than going into the portal page and then clicking it. I don't know if this is possible. Is it?
Unfortunately, that is not possible. What I decided to do instead is put links to the TI-83 Basic and 68k TI-Basic home pages at the top of all of the sidebars (the TI-83 section, 68k section, and the forum). Does this work for you guys?
I don't know if you figured out my plans for the portal page, but I think it makes sense to have it be the homepage when you access the site through the http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com URL. What do you think? Are there any other things we should add to it that would be useful?
EDIT: I decided to test it out :D
I like it! On the one hand, I want to suggest that we take some of the stuff that's repeated on both start pages, and add it here. On the other, the simplicity of it is appealing.
I made it even simpler, and removed the navigation on the side and top ;)
EDIT: Beginning operation cleanup start pages.
Is there anything else that I should change on the portal page? I just want to make sure I didn't forget anything.
I think the calculators might look better with transparent backgrounds. I'd do it myself but it's kind of hard with only MSPaint.
That's all I have as well. Maybe we could ask Goose? He's good with that kind of stuff.
This is my pitiful attempt. You can use it until you get something better.
Those images look great! I just updated the portal page with them. Thanks for the help.
I actually did the same thing myself and was going to upload the finished files, but forgot and you beat me to it. :P
@DarkerLine: Does something prevent you from downloading the GIMP?
Nothing prevents me from downloading it, it's the learning to use it that's a pain.
(Instead, I edit images using linear transfomations and the like in Mathematica, which is much simpler I'm sure)
I think you should include a note about the Nspire above the select your calculator part. I have one written up. If you include it, please turn the first line into a header like all the others on the page.
Got an Nspire or Nspire CAS?
We regret to say that we currently have no support for the Nspire or Nspire CAS models. There are two reasons for this yet. The first is, at the date of this writing (Sept. 3rd 2008), the Nspire models do not have great programming support. The second reason is, quite frankly, we have no idea which section of the site to put it in, or if we need to make a new section for it!
If you have an Nspire or Nspire CAS, do not leave! Choose either calculator below, sign up using the link in the top right corner of the page, then join us in the forums and tell us you have an Nspire! No one here has access to an Nspire at the moment, and someone who has one can help us start finally getting Nspire documentation.
I added the TI-Nspire to the page — does that work for you?
