Changing the redirect page for new users?

We're glad you came by, but you might find what you're looking for elsewhere. TI-Basic Developer is not the site it once was. While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Both are active, well-established forums with their own archives, chatrooms, reference material, and abundant coding tools and resources. We'll see you there, we hope.

I think this site would be better and have less opportunity for rule breaking if we redirected new users towards a sort of "Welcome" tutorial, where it would have almost the same layout of the Basic Starter kit. It would consist of the preparation kit (starting at "Why TI Basic?") then ending with the site rules. Is anybody thinking that this would be beneficial?

I could see where it would be useful, especially if it included the how-to page, but I also think that it may not really be necessary. Most of the new users that I interact with seem to have either already read the rules or just have an understanding of online ettiquette.

This is a minor thing to add, since most people don't need to be told how to behave online, but this would be pretty easy, as all the pages are already created. We would just have to put navigation bars on the bottom of pages, similar to the Starter Kit. I would start with the Welcome Pack page, as that is the closest thing to a welcome tutorial that we currently have.

Yeah, I see both points (which are good). I guess we could just assume that the user is responsible and has etiquette, and if not, deal with the user accordingly.
