So, I have just downloaded MirageOS, and worked fine, until I quit out of it. It showed be this glitched screen with a bunch of pixels on and off, numbers, letters, ASCII characters, etc. I have tried removing batteries, draining it of power completely, pressed 2nd+ON, you name it.
And each time I take out the batteries, and putting them back in, it shows me this same screen. I can't even install an OS into it. (2.55 MP)
What do I do? I do not know what this means, but, does this means it is permanently bricked?

We're glad you came by, but you might find what you're looking for elsewhere. TI-Basic Developer is not the site it once was. While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Both are active, well-established forums with their own archives, chatrooms, reference material, and abundant coding tools and resources. We'll see you there, we hope. |
Hm, usually the RAM will reset once batteries are taken out. Keep trying to reset it (as there is no reset button for monochrome calculators) and if all goes well, remove MirageOS and use DoorsCS instead. You could also ask this on the Cemetech forums and get a better answer.
Another thing that you might be able to do is to remove MirageOS directly through TI Connect. I believe this will work, but I can't be sure.
I once had this happen to me, and was able to fix it by removing the batteries AND the backup battery. This allowed me to remove mirage from the calculator. I have also heard of other re-installing the OS, removing mirage through TI-Connect, and (very very rarely) using a rom image to extract the OS and essentially re-image the calculator. The reason the last option is very rare is that it requires a very advanced technical knowledge as well as some advanced software. I personally have used a ROM to repair a calculator, but I have heard of people doing it.
I have tried deleting from TI-Connect, but every time I try to connect to my TI-84+, It keeps giving me this dumb error:
Your TI-84 Plus is not responding. Either try to reconnect or try again later.
It will not work! I just looked up, this is what the most recent email response is:
Hm, well, sorry to say, it looks like your calculator is bricked. I mean REALLY bricked. It is so bricked you CAN'T use TI-Connect, Delete ANYTHING using it, install ANY OS. You have just lost ALL of your data forever. Kiss goodbye all your things. Sorry link!
Is this really true? What do you guys think, I surfed the internet, called TI, I do not know what else I am suppost to do. Throw my TI-84+ away? Burn it? What?
Btw, is this a good forum to put this kind of topic in? Don't want to get busted.
Your lies grow…
Calculators aren't AI (and can't send you messages) and for the calculator to be anywhere close to sending/receiving email, it would have to be connected to Gossamer w/ CalcNET 2.2. I doubt you know about any of those, so I stand firm in saying that you are lying.
If you meant that TI sent you those responses, this is also a lie, as TI is very professional in handling problems. Once when I had an issue with KnightOS bricking my calc, they gave me advice on how to fix it and advised me to be careful around third-party OS's. They were very polite, and they will continue to be polite.
In addition, the TI 84 Plus will not tell you that it is unresponsive. If anything, TI Connect should be unresponsive, not the calculator.
It said that message from TI-CONNECT BATTLE SQUID! AND NO, MY LIES DO NOT GROW!!
Now everybody thinks I LIE NOW?! What "nice" people you ARE!
Im sorry, but Battlesquid is correct on this one. TI would have never sent you an email with that wording as they always have been and always will be very formal and respectful
Omg, IT WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE FROM TI-CONNECT!
NOT BY EMAIL!

NONE OF YOU GUYS ARE LISTENING!
WHATEVER! YOU GUYS ARE SO FLIPPING RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't like how 'rude' we are, you can always leave the site…
This is getting out of hand. I simply pointed out the exact point that Battlesquid was trying to point out, and I provide evidence of that. I do not feel that I was in any way rude or disrespectful but rather that you misunderstood.
As a side note; If this thread continues to stay off topic, I will be forced to lock it.
Trenly, just go ahead and lock it. I doubt anyone has anything meaningful that they want to contribute at this point.
What is the point of asking for help if mainly you guys always argue?! NO POINT AT ALL!
See, this is why I wanted this thread locked…
