Does anyone know of good methods to create an all-purpose equation solver? (without using the built in one) I tried a few ways on my own but they all had problems:(
Creating an all-purpose equation solver is going to be rather difficult. Could you maybe just limit it to some specific equations?
Well, I tried a few algorithims that I hoped would be able to solve things like quadratics and linear equations but I kept running into problems. I recently found a book on numerical recipes and I am trying to use those methods to create a simultaneous solver. By the way, you wouldn't happen to know how the built in solver does it, would you?
if i remember/know correctly, i believe that it uses something like newton's method of solving equations, where you pick a x value, get the tangent line at y = f(x), get the x intercept, and use the x intercept as the new point and repeat until f(x) = 0
