I was wondering if you guys have used any of the new TI-84+2.53MP commands? I saw that someone started pages for the commands a while ago, but there isn't much information on each page. Would anybody be interested in filling in the pages?
I don't actually have that OS, but somehow when I installed an emulator using my calculator for my brother, so he could practice programming, it ended up with the 2.53MP OS. I might be able to fill in some stuff then, though it might be better for someone with the actual calculator to fill it in.
This week my TI-83+SE finally died, so I bought a TI-84+SE to replace it. I finally got around to trying out the new commands and OS yesterday, and they seem to work pretty well. The one thing I noticed is that the 2.53MP OS is quite slow (for instance, when it loads the application menu you can see it displaying each individual application). Have you guys noticed that as well?
On my calculator, the applications are also displayed one at a time. Though, mine does use a different OS (2.48) in order to be compatible with the Nspire. One thing I have heard is that the Mathprint mode is slower than Classic. However, I cannot verify that with an emulator.
Yes, I have noticed that loading the programs page is almost instant, while the apps menu (slowly) loads the name of each installed app (I have a TI-84+ and only 11 apps.)
@Timothy Foster- Yes, Mathprint is somewhat slower if you use BASIC games that utilize the home screen (such as moving around) because Mathprint is used to display fractions as they would normally be shown. However, in my case, there is heavy emphasis on "somewhat."
Projects: BexIDE (hold), Hadean.NET, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Future
i wouldn't put so much emphasis on "somewhat." when mathprint first came out (i dont use it anymore) i ran some test on it and found that in a simple program displaying text on the screen, mathprint took more then 30 seconds to complete while "classic" mode took around 6 seconds.
