does anyone know of any really good, free, program that can do its best to fit an equation given many points (2000+, so no calc)? i know excel/openoffice calc has graph+function creators and so forth, but im not sure that the functions are close enough to the actual data points (R^{2} = .96, which is good, but still…). i want to see if there is any program that can generate a function that can model the data even better than the one i got

my 8000+ data point graph isnt even generating any proper equation, despite it being somewhat linear. showing 20 decimal places is giving me 0 for the R^{2}, but float is giving me .84
