Making Maps / Discussion

We're glad you came by, but you might find what you're looking for elsewhere. TI-Basic Developer is not the site it once was. While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Both are active, well-established forums with their own archives, chatrooms, reference material, and abundant coding tools and resources. We'll see you there, we hope.

I just finished updating the making maps page, adding information on how to store and display maps. I was wondering if I left anything off and if the page is easy to understand and follow? My goal is to finish it and move on to the next technique on the to-do list, so feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The only addition I could think of is changing the tokens that are displayed on the map, a RPG with ones that are walls and zero's you can walk on, doesn't look good ;)

edit: I don't know how the displaying work exactly with strings and lists, but the matrix part is added.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I didn't try that example out, but now that I look at it, I know what you are talking about — walking on a 0 isn't exactly fun :D Displaying the string and list is pretty much similar, you just need to use the formula X+16(Y-1) to convert the position in the string/list to the respective screen coordinates.

Now update the movement in maps page to do collision detection and movement on the graph screen.
