does anyone know how to (with python) take a file, and then copy certain data from it? say

file
----
a=name1
b=name2
c=name3

i just want to find a, and then copy name1, and/or find name1 where ever its put

i think batch suits better than python at this…anyway i can not help you with this since i am not a pythobn programmer. if you want to let it search automatically i can not assure you batch is the right choice, elsewise, batch is outstanding at fast data proccesing and manipulation, it can read from txt files aswell. a good source to start batch is youtube, some very helpfull commands on batch can be found here and here (to start learning batch) if you have a mac, i can only give two advises, download the command prompt shell or buy a PC xD!

i have xp, so i have cmd.

im just starting to learn python, and im bad enough at learning foreign (eg. not english) languages as it is. the last thing i need right now is mixing up python with batch. i only know 4 cmd commands: cmd, help, time, cls

cmd is english. i think i could write it for you if you want and if you give me time, also i would need a very specific instruction of what you EXACTLY want it to do.

forget it. im just trying to learn python. i figured it out already

on the other hand… could you make a program that

1. takes a .txt file
2. reads each line separately
3. and compares each line against each other.

i want to see if there are any duplicate outputs in my 128 files
