In light of the unusual decisions made by the Wikidot Team, we were granted the ability to create a custom favicon on this site: a feature which was previously restrained to the paid Pro-accounts.

Through a conversation I had with burr last November, he provided me the favicon that he wanted the TI-Basic Developer to have. And so I've taken advantage of the current Wikidot situation to complete his vision of this brilliant website.

He's a trial pro account what we need to do, is have it to where when one pro trial ends, we will start another with a different user, and keep those ugly bars away. We have plenty of users for this idea, so…

I just found out that you need to be an admin, to be able to get rid of them. They are built into the XHTML code wikidot creates, so I don't think Timothy is the one who did it. Maybe it shows you if you are the admin, or have a pro account. Hopefully, non moderators will be able to dothis too. "moderators for a month anyone?" This poses a problem. If you don't like this, I made a community forum thread. It just makes our site look unproffessional, which is the reason we didn't do adsense.

Now there is an unusual bar of nothing at the top.

And I didn't do that. I don't even think I can with a trial, since I couldn't get rid of them on Life's Handbook.

Actually, Pro features are only available to a wiki when the Master Administrator has a Pro account.

burr is the MA of TI|BD. Regardless of whether or not the other Administrators have Pro status, TI|BD will remain a non-pro wiki until burr pays for a Pro account or transfers his MA status to somebody else.

If burr DOES pay for a Pro account, then all pro features are activated for the TI|BD — you don't need to have a pro account to use the pro features on the TI|BD.

BTW, unless TI|BD becomes a Pro wiki, we would be violating the Wikidot ToS if we removed the bars.

My vote would be on Weregoose or DarkerLine, as they've been part of this community for longer than I have. So long as they don't plan on retiring soon.

Wikidot ToS = Wikidot Terms of Service. There's a link in the footer-bar if you haven't seen it already.

the site indeed suffers from the decision to add the bar, how are the plans on changing the css of this site going? i have noit heard of that in a while..

Most votes seem to go to DarkerLine, or Weregoose.

I read the Terms of Service, and it states that by trying to hide those bars, we could lose our site.

On the other hand, the Pro Lite price seems fairly reasonable, and it gets rid of the toolbar and the ads (the extra storage space I don't think is a factor).

Actually, now that they improved the top bar, it isn't too bad. The problem is the colossal bottom bar that I sure hope they fix.

I stopped by the site today and noticed this thread, so I thought I would add my two cents to the conversation. Although I would prefer to remain the master administrator of TI-Basic Developer (as it is something that I invested a lot of time and energy into and take great pride in), I have no desire to start contributing again, and subsequently no desire to buy a pro account.

At the same time, I share the same sentiments as the rest of you about the toolbar and ads, and am willing to transfer the master administrator status to another administrator. I highly respect both Weregoose and DarkerLine, and think either one would be a good choice for master administrator. So, it really just comes down to who wants to buy a pro account; the decision is theirs to make.

I incorperated van Gogh's starry night into it, as your name. My inspiration was when you said that you put a lot of time into it, so I decided that while someone else may be the MA, you are the "King of TI|BD".

Unfortunately, these bars may be just a preamble to what Wikidot decides to do in the future. It use to be ads, and now these rather obtrusive bars. What next? The Pro account may be necessary to protect the site from future problems.

I would much prefer burr to keep Master Administrator status for its respectable position, and in truth burr deserves it. But if we must, I am also in agreement that if exchanging the role is necessary, it should go to either Weregoose or DarkerLine. It would be up to them what occurs.

Of course, with graphmastur's help, burr can still be recognized as the founder. Hopefully, this all turns out for the good.

Perhaps, burr, you can activate the pro trial? I don't know if it will relieve us of the bar momentarily, but if it does, then at least it is gone for 30 days while a decision is made. There is a chance that the pro trial won't work, since I haven't had too much luck on my sites.
