TI-89 vs. TI-89 Titanium

We're glad you came by, but you might find what you're looking for elsewhere. TI-Basic Developer is not the site it once was. While its information on commands and other calculator features remains almost second-to-none, its forum, archives, and even hosting service, Wikidot, have been decaying for years. The calculator community would love to see what you're working on, or help you in your next coding adventure, but TI-Basic Developer is no longer the place to do it. Instead, you should head over to Cemetech (primarily American) or TI-Planet (primarily international). Has anyone noticed the programs run slower on the TI-89 Titanium vs. the old TI-89.

I just got a Titanium, I had been using the 89 but after I copied my programs over they run slower. After multiple runs they are still slower?

Strange?

Atually when I unarchived, it sped up things. never knew that one.

Actually, the 89T is interesting. A BASIC program in ram goes through a sort of "compiling" on the first run after a change. If it is archived before the first run, the program will have to "compile" every run, but if it was run first, then archived, the program will be quick even from the archive. I call it compiling because the size of a program gets smaller after is is run the first time, and also because a hex editor of the original shows all the text in the program, but something different for the "compiled" version.

It's one of the few things the 68k part of this site actually has an article about. Although I should point out that the regular 89 (and indeed every other calculator in the same series) does this too.
