First, let me start off by saying, I own a TI-84+ Silver Edition that runs OS 2.40. I assume most people have heard of BASIC tools, or have at least seen a few of the programs (ZALPHA and ZBATTCHK, for instance). Two programs in particular have incredibly stange effects on my calculator.
SHUTDOWN: It turns off my calculator, but when I turn it back on, my screen is frozen as it appeared just before shutdown, requiring a battery pull and resulting in a RAM clear.
SETCON: Meant to change the contrast to whatever's stored in X, it instead sets the screen to what I presume what is the lowest setting, and when I press 2ND and the up or down arrow key, it changes contrast to 1 above or below what it originally was, before I ran SETCON.
But there's more weirdness. I have CalcUtil (an application availible on ticalc.org if you want to check it out) on my calculator, and for whatever reason, whenever it's installed and running, I have no problem with SHUTDOWN. Yet SETCON still messes up.
Now one might say, "Then have CalcUtil running!" but I'm in the preliminary stages of making a OS that uses ASM routines, and when I release, not everyone will have Omnicalc. Could anyone check this to see what's wrong? Does it do this stuff on your calc? I'm also going to e-mail the maker of these programs, try to see if he can figure it out.
