Hey,

I am writing this program to help me and others in my math class. I have a TI-84+ SE.

I want to write a program that can create an equation based off of two points on a graph.

If we have (3,1) and (6,3), I want the program to create either a power formula (y=ax^b) or an exponent formula (y=ab^x). I have the whole program done, except for the main formula.

To solve this, you would plug in the points. Lets say we use the exponent formula for now.

1=ab^3 = a=1/b^3

then you plug "a" into the second point equation.

3=(1/b^3)b^6

and heres my problem.. since i need to solve for "b", i cannot give b a value. But then my calculator assumes the "b" is 0, and gives me an error that it cannot divide by 0 (1/b^3). How do I solve for b?

I assume that i have to use the solve() function in some way, but i tried several ways and nothing worked. I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
