Please help me to create a TI Calc Program???

Summary:

I have TI 84 Plus Silver Edition... Please help me to create a program that can find all the possible factors of a given number... For example... You could use THIS, however that one doesn't seem to work like you're wanting it to.
Here's one I just created:

I'm pretty sure this can be optimized some, but it works. For example, if I put in 96 for N, this program should output {96.01 48.02 32.03 24.04 16.06 12.08 8.12 6.16 4.24 3.32 2.48 1.96}.
As you can see, the same factors are displayed twice, so you could probably optimize the program so it doesn't generate those.

I found this. It does not destroy any list variables. Only I, N, and Ans are destroyed.
The code is reproduced below.

Prompt N
{1,N
For(I,2,sqrt(N))

augment(Ans,{I,N/I
End

If 96 is the input for N, the output in Ans will be {1 96 2 48 3 32 4 24 6 16 8 12}.

There can be more code to sort the list, display the list, or store the list.

The purpose of these programs are to find all the possible factors of a number. The page that Michael2_3B linked to will find the prime factors. There is a difference. Therefore, this routine should not replace the prime factorization page. However, this could code by Timothy Foster could be added to the routine page.

Wow….this worked perfectly…

But the problem is that I'm a noob to TI-BASIC and i basically just know how to type in the program.

Could you please put a little effort and help me out….

It is showing me the list of numbers, but during certain times like tests, they have time limits….so i want everything to be clear in front of my eyes…

So please try to make in the way i want…..Pretty please

But i also have to use the graph for graphing purposes….it is appearing on the graphing screen and it dosent go away….i know that you can use clrdraw to make everything go away but i dont wan to do that…

Is there a way to make it automatically go away?

Place a Pause right after the Disp in the second-to-last line.
Don't replace the Disp, because
Pause [value]
affects the Ans variable

I think there is a problem with this line:

When i try running the program it says "ERROR: DOMAIN"…."Value entered is not allowed in the function or command."

Any fix or ideas?

wouldnt it be better just to display it using a list obtained through linear regression instead of having to deal with a string. that way you can even view the whole list after it has finished

I'm not sure I know what's going on here, but maybe you could just store your list to L1 if it isn't already, and use the list editor, Either that, or just :Pause L1 it on the home screen

I do not know who to reply to anymore so I am replying to the original post. Here is a 9 line, 62 bytes program that saves the factors into Ans and displays it on the homescreen.

Prompt N
{1,N
For(I,2,√(N))
If not(fPart(N/I
augment(Ans,{I,N/I
End
For(I,1,dim(Ans),2
Disp seq(Ans(I),I,I,I+1
End

If the output list is too long (i.e. runs off of the homescreen) you can either look at the list in the list editor after you store it or add a Pause within the last For() loop.

We agreed on Cemetech SAX that this was not needed. It would involve converting the output to a string and adding the "*". This would be just for aesthetic purposes now. I'm glad we were able to help you and that you are satisfied with the code above!

When you get the Done message, go to stat -> Edit… , and you'll see the positive factors in L1 and L2 and the negative factors in L3 and L4 (if your input was positive, And vice versa if it was negative), just the way you wanted it.

Thanks for your help, but I this was not what i wanted…the program written by Timtech was perfect for me…I just wanted to remove the zeros from the answer:

You Know, It might be more beneficial to just know the facts by heart and write the list down on paper. Not necasarrily easier, but more beneficial in the long run. You won't always have a calculator. Just saying.
