For some reason, when i plugged headphones into my computer speakers, i could hear a radio broadcast when i put a finger on the wire, and another somewhere on the plastic case. when i changed the volume, i the sound was amplified or something, so that it was sharper.

is there any reason for this?

I made a makeshift radio without instructions at a robotics camp last year, so I think I know what's going on. Radio waves are transferred through contact with metals, and certain metals are better for listening. Some metals can be used to hear multiple frequencies, but all metals can tune in to at least one specific radio frequency. My guess is that somewhere a wire or connection is coming in contact with another metal that is able to tune into an active frequency. Your fingers act as antennas, amplifying the sound (your fingers also can tune in to radio frequencies somewhat.) A volume adjuster is an amplifier, so that also amplifies the sound, which allows you to listen through headphones.

yeah well something still must be really messed up if your hearing radio out of headphones plugged into your computer.
