Please explain. TI-85 gives the result: E = 4.374
The TI-Nspire series gives no result - why.

Solver (ATAN ((50-E) / 40) + ATAN (E / 40) = 55, E, 1)
Maybe in the TI-Nspire be otherwise save.

Make sure that your TI-Nspire is in degree mode. If it is in radian mode, the equation is never true for the values of E.

Those settings should work. Which TI-Nspire are you using? Is it CAS?
Is this what you are typing?

It should work with just solve().
nSolve() returns "No solution found".

Maybe someone has an idea.
We have the equation:
nSolve (46.36 * 180 / 3.14 - 10 / (1-cos (b / 2)) = 0, b)
Student Software The program has the equation properly. Once you've copied to the calculator, the equation does not give the result.
Maybe this equation should be written differently. Thank you for your reply.

The equation you typed works fine for my TI-Nspire CX CAS with OS 3.6.
Make sure that your settings on the calculator match the settings in the Student Software.
Also, check your OSs for each. My Student Software came as 3.9 while my calculator is still 3.6.

Calculator and software settings student the same.
I have the settings as in the previous post.
It seems to me that the software the student is under the CX.
My calculator Version: 3.2.3.1233.
However, the program the student has correctly - calculator does not.
Student Program Version: 3.9.0.463

observation:
The following equation is calculated correctly on a calculator and a student program.
nSolve (ATAN ((50-E) / 40) + ATAN (E / 40) = 55, E)

In contrast, the following equation correctly calculated the student program - not a calculator.
nSolve (46.36 * 180 / 3.14 / b - 10 / (1-cos (B / 2)) = 0, b)

If the settings and the equation are the same on both the Student Software and the calculator, the problem may lie in the different versions of OS. I could not find the changelog for OS 3.2 or 3.6. TI may have addressed nSolve() via an OS update.

Also, why not use solve()? nSolve returns only one answer. solve can return multiple answers if there are multiple solutions.

Uploader latest version of the OS from the Texas Instruments 3.9.0.463

equation:
nSolve (180 * 46 365 / 3.14 / B-10 / (1-COS (b / 2)) = 0, b)
Program Student Software gives the result: 106,197. And this is the correct result.
The same equation entered in the TI-Nspire CAS - No solution found
Settings in the student TI-Nspire Software and is the same.

Display Digits: 3
Angle: Degree
Exponential Format: Normal
Real or Complex: Real
Calculation Mode: Approximate
Vector Format: Rectangular
Base: Decimal
Can someone check on your calculator equation.
It may have been the missed something in the settings, or other record of the equation.

Could you please edit your equation above or repost the correct equation? What is supposed to be between the 46 and 365? Also, variables and functions should be lowercase in the equation.
You can insert LaTeX equations if you want.

The calculator write in lowercase.
Between 46 and 365 decimal.
So 46 and 365 thousandths. (46,365).
again:
nSolve (180 * 46 365 / 3.14 / b - 10 / (1 - cos (b / 2)) = 0, b)
Please check this equation on their calculators.

This is interesting. I am unable to replicate your results on my Student Software with OS 3.9.0.463 or my TI-Nspire CX CAS with OS 3.6.0.550.
$\textrm{nSolve}(\frac{\frac{180*46.365}{3.14}}{b}-\frac{10}{1-\textrm{cos}(\frac{b}{2})}=0,b)$ results in "No solution found".
$\textrm{solve}(\frac{\frac{180*46.365}{3.14}}{b}-\frac{10}{1-\textrm{cos}(\frac{b}{2})}=0,b)$ results in $\textrm{cos}(\frac{b}{2})+0.004*(b-265.787)=0$.
I have found that you can add the notation "|100<b<200" to either of the above equations which restricts the answer such that b is greater than 100 and less than 200. However, the lower bound must be 100 or greater and the upper bound must be less than 1000. If not, the input results in the same undesirable answers.
This issue with nSolve() and solve() on the TI-Nspire could be related to how the OS calculates the result. When executed, the calculator attempts many possible answers. The OS probably stops after a certain amount of attempts.
To fix your problem, you could either graph the equation or use this notation:
$\textrm{nSolve}(\frac{\frac{180*46.365}{3.14}}{b}-\frac{10}{1-\textrm{cos}(\frac{b}{2})}=0,b)|100<b$ which results in 106.19653784334.

Latex beautiful - I can not do that.
I have yet: TI-85 and TI-89. What is interesting in these calculators and the results are correct, without appending additional conditions. How do you have an older model TI, you can check it out.
The quoted section of the circular design concerns. With two pieces of data: the length of the arc and the amount to be calculated -> angle, chord, radius.
At present mamtematyka does not provide a simple formula to calculate with such data. That's why I created the equation in order to calculate the remaining values.
This equation calculates the angle (b). Thus, this value may be within the range: b> 0 and b <= 180.
Therefore, in my case, it should be:
nSolve (180 * 46 385 / 3.14 / b -10 / (1 - cos (b / 2)) = 0, b) | b> 0 and b <= 180
I missed. I have a wonderful manual for the TI-89, today no one of such specific instructions are not written. There just is explained as a small child, exactly what you wrote. But it never occurred to me to look there. Thank you very much for your help and interest in this subject.
