Whenever I turn my 84+ SE on, it gives the RAM Cleared message. Then, when I press any key, it turns off. What should I do?
That happened to me a while ago. What to do follows:
- remove on battery
- press and hold the delete key, while you reinsert the battery.
- When prompted, send the operating system to your calculator from your computer
I'm not sure if you can send the OS from another calculator.
Thanks. A weeks worth of programming got deleted, but my calculator works!
lucky… when that happened to me, half of TIOS got deleted. i couldnt turn on my calc for more than a few secs, so i had to send it in

Did you try reloading the OS?
not enough time. when ever i turned on that calc, only half of "ram cleared" was shown. then it shut down

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I emailed Tech, and they reminded me of the del trick.
I did that (why did this happen again? lol), but after a bit it says ERROR Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on. Of course, that doesn't work. Whenever I turn it on, it stays on for about 3 seconds before turning off. That allows for me to press and hold del, but, as i said, the above error comes on after a bit.
pull a battery out first, before putting it back and pressing del and on

something similar to this happened to my friends calc and what you have to do(if you have ti-connect) is first used the restore OS option, and it will most likely bring you back to the "install OS now" screen. then you use the update OS option and your calc should have a progress screen come up. when it finished the calc shut off but when i turned it back on it said RAM cleared and worked again
