Hello everyone,
I know it's been a while since I've been around; I've been mostly a lurker lately. However, since my ti Nspire with touchpad (which I primarily use as an 84) got damaged in the rain last week, I couldn't think of a friendlier, more well informed, helpful place to go than here. So, let's get down to business.
Last week I had to bike home in the rain, but didn't realize how wet my backpack had gotten until the next morning. I found my Nspire damp in my bag the next morning, and waited until today (six days later) to turn it on so it could dry out. Unfortunately, neither keypad can turn the device on. When I plug it into the computer, though, a light on the top that I've never seen before lights up solid red. Does anyone know what this is or what it mean? I've heard it blinks during push to test mode, but it's not blinking now.
It doesn't show up when I try to connect it to the computer. I've tried hitting the reset button, but that does nothing.
Finally, my brother has the same Nspire with a broken screen, but the rest is okay, and I was wondering if it would be possible or difficult to put my screen into his calculator and use it. I found one tutorial online, but it seemed… uninformative at best.
Has anyone had any of these problems before? Any suggestions, ideas, knowledge, or the like?
All input is very much appreciated.
Thanks.
UPDATE EDIT:
Just after posting, things took a turn for the better. My calculator turned on while connected to the computer but claims to have low battery and shuts down when unplugged from the computer. After a couple of tests, it seems the battery ports on my calculator no longer work. I think I'll buy a Ti rechargable battery. Anyone know where to get a cheap one?
Isn't it amazing how sometimes problems work themselves out with just a little push?
Also, still interested in knowing about screen replacement, if anyone has ever heard of/ attempted/ knows about that…
