i'm using mirage OS and doors CS6. when ever i go into doors it messes all the program names up for mirage (it makes then all have weird symbols in the front)

need help with the distance, midpoint, or Pythagorean theorem formulas? try my distance/midpoint/pythagorean-theorem solver. It EVEN shows you the work!
need a game to play? try Dot Mania.

I think it might be only characters with a value less than… ? .
Something like that or something, this just proves how little i know about assembly and whatnot.

But the program-hiding procedure DOES work with making the name illegible for the OS. For example: ▶XAMPLE

This is not displayed in the menu.

I thought of that, and decided that if I was to do it as a hidden program, then you couldn't delete it as easily as an appvar.

I see. But since you will need an assembly program for your game to be able to read from the data program, why not just use Celtic2 and have it be an Appvar Instead? Those are non-editable to the common user and you don't have to go bypassing the OS's features.

Wait, so you want to hide a program so thoroughly that you wouldn't be able to access it through MirageOS, Doors, The Ti OS, or anything else… ?

I'm confused. is this going to be just a data file, a game, a program, or what?

Any ideas on how to hide it there. Also, If they are going to go to that much trouble, using calcsys or Celtic 2 to see the files, then I would figure that they are good enough programmers to be able to edit my data program. (Note: My program that would be hidden would only contain data that would be hard to crack either by celtic2 or by calcsys. It would be encrypted)

So unless someone wants to change something manually, instead of through the program, then have at it.

Calcsys can see everything in the VAT… Even hidden files.

Hey, that gives me an idea. If I use Celtic 2 and make the program name with a lowercase extension with rand or ans as the first line, then I can hide it from Doors CS and the Ti program menu. Which would mean that no one could edit or mess with it.

Also, the other day, my calc was running on low battery power, and I turned on doors CS because I figured if it wouldn't let me through the program menu, the I could through Doors CS. Well, I turned it on and the screen went blank. I pressed ON after a few minutes and it reset my ram.

Actually, you can see programs with lowercase names. I'd attach a screenshot, but I can't figure out how to upload one from my computer. Can you tell me how?

Oh, BTW, to answer architeuthiskid, I have 3 TI-84s, and I encounter the same problem on all of them.

I don't know much about assembly, and this may be complete bosh, but maybe the token used for identifying hidden programs is the
lowercase r. Also a possibility: there's a glitch in your operating system, which may be causing you understandingly annoying problem.

You might have heard of assembly programs that 'hide' your programs from the program and memory menu. And what you did is exactly how you accomplish that. the TI OS does not recognize any programs that have any other starting character than regular uppercase letters. I don't know of any way arround this, and i'm pretty sure there isn't one.

I use Doors CS for 2 things: renaming an ASM program and giving them lowercase names (useful for those obnoxious Phoenix external levels). However, when attempting to rename a program to something beginning with a lowercase r, I ran into trouble. It simply would not show up, even in the Memory management menu. has anyone else had this problem?

If I can't find out here, I think I'll take it to the Cemetech forums instead.
