Equations interfering with drawing?

Posts in the discussion thread "Equations interfering with drawing?" - I made a simple program to use for drawing, and I've isolated this code causing problems, but I have no idea why it it is doing it.Wed, 14 Nov 2018 13:45:35 +0000http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/forum/t-6351395#post-3941212Re: Equations interfering with drawing?

I had a similar problem on one of my programs on my Ti 84 plus, when I was using for loops to plots sprites on the graph screen and had to put "1->Y" after one of my existing for loops even though the fro loop involving Y was For(Y,1,B), B being the variable 9, but would being at 0 at the beginning of the loop.

Ok, I just remember reading somewhere on this wiki that it is generally accepted that you should use X and Y for coordinates and K for getKey. I actually made the full drawing utility first, with X and Y which worked perfectly, and then discovered this by messing around with the commands and it was just so weird because the code above is essentially the same as the utility plus, setting up the graph screen, an event loop, and four single command If statements controlling movement. It was supposed to be as close to the Pen tool as possible.

It is known that equations or drawing can both effect the variables X and Y. I do not know what causes it. However, to avoid the issue just use other variables such as A and B, or V and W, etc.

Having just cleared RAM, I ran the code below, which made X=55 and Y=0. When I set equation, Y_{1}=1, I ran the code again. This time it made, X=10 and Y=1. I did a few other tests by defining other equations, but Y always became the value of the last defined equation and X always became 10.
