Pardon the massive necropost, but I would like to explain my reasoning behind my answer to this previously unsolved riddle. The clue is very clever, and Xeda's hint gave it away for me. An English colloquialism for suspicious is fishy, and the word for fish is poisson in French. Knowledge of statistics will tell you that cdf stands for cumulative distribution function, hence "adding up."
