I got started on c++ by originally writing in torque script; after that I went and decompiled Terraria and wrote some griefing tools for it (Terraria has virtually no server security :D), since C++ is pretty similar to Torque. I'm not too good of a teacher, but if you have any questions, I can probably answer them.
