I was able to find the solution. When entering a radical, the radicand must be entered in parentheses, i.e., √(3), rather than the entire expression.

Yes, however when I try to put parentheses around the "n" in the line, "Request "Enter equation",n" — after Check syntax/store the software removes the parentheses. I've entered the equation in the dialog box with parentheses and found the same error result, 'Missing (".

All integers, complex numbers work fine without parentheses — but entering a radical sets it off. I'm using a work-around which will suffice, just bothered about this little tic.

TI-Nspire-Basic is similar to TI-89 Basic. Are you sure you opened and closed parentheses properly? Does Request need parentheses?

Hmm, I am still not sure what is causing the error. I unfortunately to not have an NSpire, so I am not yet familiar with the language.

Brand new to programming and working on some trig programs, specifically changing a complex number (1 - i) to trig form. The program works fine, unless a radical is entered in the "Request" dialog box (e.g., √3 -i) — then I get an error: "Missing "(" on the Request script line. I've tried putting the first "n" in parentheses but when syntax is checked, the software deletes them. Any thoughts appreciated.
