Oh, I'm sorry. It isn't that slow even in programs for me, as long as I have only the n/d on - but yes, it is slower, I agree both with you and the benchmarks!

Oh, upon exploring some I realized that you can go to the Mode window when writing a program and fetch the CLASSIC instruction, which'll force your program to run in Classic mode.

Is it Un/d-mode you are referring to? Because yes, that is crazily slow for me as well - simply n/d-mode works rather fine, though. But what do I know - your calculator might have more storage filled up; mine has like 80 percent free!

I suppose most of you have already heard of it, and some have probably tried it, but either way:

Texas Instruments has recently released a new operating system for the TI-84 Plus series; link

I got it down today and have played around with it a bit.
The main feature that's new is so called Math Print - also known as pretty print. This essentially means that you can have the calculator display your calculations the same way as you would write them on a piece of paper!
What's more is that you can have it do math print even in the equation window: excellent. That's where I believe most people make syntax mistakes which cause errors that aren't spotted till whatever they were doing is corrected.

Furthermore, the pretty print options and some other menus are now found in the before unused F1-F4 buttons (Alfa+the top buttons). There you'll also find shortcuts to for example the Yns.

This was a little bit too good to be true, though. After experimenting I realized that NO, the pretty print does not work (perfectly) within programs. You CAN set numbers up so that they display as ratios - and they will do so with a thick division sign in between. You can also have it display mixed form; but not as pretty as it will in the Equation screen or the Home screen.

As a footnote, it IS performing its actions slower with math print turned on, and even more so with mixed form. To speed it up you can turn off pretty print, or turn off the automatic conversion. There is now an extra page in the Mode window.

Another new feature is the ability to go back your home screen with the arrows, where you can also fetch both inputs and outputs used the for. A total of 30 entries are stored there.

So, have you tried it? What did you think? Discuss, I guess. :)

I realize in hindsight that this might not be the most appropriate placement in the forums for this thread - if so, please move it. I just saw the "General"-name and found it fitting.
