Basically the title. I'm using Windows 10. TI-89 is showing up in device manager under 'Universal Serial Bus Devices' as 'TI-GRAPH LINK USB'; it says 'This device is working properly' when clicked into along with its port and such. When I run TI Connect's Device Explorer, it can't find a thing ('Cannot establish a connection. Please verify the cable is connected properly and the communication settings are correct').

I've tried switching the port the calculator's plugged into, unplugging and replugging, turning off and back on, closing and reopening TI Connect, I've made sure the calculator is on and both ends of the cable are securely connected, all that. I've read through various threads here and on other sites and can't really find anything that helps - I saw a few threads that recommended ending the task - I couldn't find the task they mentioned (or re-find the thread just now, sorry) but have tried ending the task in Task Manager before going back and trying again; again no dice.

Really not sure what to try next, so any help would be appreciated!

If you're wanting it simple and sweet, I'd try using https://ticalc.link/.

Most likely you use Google Chrome, so if you have a mini-USB cable and a file to send, that website is pretty easy to use without the installation of software of any kind

For TI-BASIC programs you need to use SourceCoder 3 to view the code, so that you can manually type it on the calculator.

For ASM and Axe programs that were compiled, you need to use http://asmtools.omnimaga.org/ then manually type the hexadecimal with the AsmPrgm command at the beginning.

I'm pretty sure you aren't able to transfer the files, since you have to download the TiConnect software to move stuff to your calculator, and I don't believe there's a version for ChromeOS.

The only solutions I can think of would be to either manually type the code (if you can find it). It's time consuming and a pain, but at least you'd have the game. The other option would be to find another computer you could install TiConnect on. Maybe a friend, parent, etc? I was in the same situation years ago and I ended up bribing my friend with cookies to get me games on my calculator :)

Did you try removing the backup battery as well? It's a button cell right above the AAA batteries, and it's covered by a piece of plastic with a small Phillips head screw holding it on. I attached an image that shows someone taking it out. Try this link as well https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/510126/Calculator+won't+turn+on.

It all started when I tried to delete an archived variable of large size. It was probably a system file. The calculator froze and displayed random ASCII characters on screen. Same characters popped up, even when turned off and turned back on.

When I put batteries in and press ON, static on screen. The same exact pattern of static appears when the calculator is turned off and on. None of the buttons work. The only way to turn it off is to take batteries out. I initially thought it was the batteries, but when I put brand new batteries in, it still happens. I tried to connect it to computer via USB Direct Cable, but the USB port does not recognize anything. I cannot go into the settings to reset it since the calculator is essentially bricked. I am not sure if I accidentally corrupted the calculator or not. I need your help, please.
