If you ever go to the learn TI-83+ assembly in 28 days tutorial, you will find the tools they use to compile programs—TASM, which works on modern windows, and a linker called devpac8x, which, being a 16-bit program, does not work on modern versions of windows. Having to use DOSBOX (a DOS emulator) got tiring quite fast, so I made a replacement that I have called 84link. You can find the source at my github account named bobxonar, under the 84link repository.

TI says you can't use the Asm84CEPrgm command on OS 5.3.1.0058 and above. If you do so, you receive the dreaded INVALID error. I did find a way to bypass that. As long as you have the command in a string or program, you can still run custom assembly programs as long as you compress the main program. Still works.

Has anyone else knew about this before I did, or is this new find?

I mean, I guess it is possible, but it is still extremely unlikely for something like that to happen on accident.

If resetting the calc doesn't work (try just RAM at first, if that doesn't work clear the whole thing), like Zeda/Xeda said I would ask about it on Cemetech, there are a lot more active users there who might be able to help you.

It is extremely unlikely that you accidentally overwrote the calculator ID. Have you run a program to modify the about screen, or to draw a fake about screen? (Some programs do this to prevent instructors from resetting the calc). I'd suggest taking this to Cemetech, though.

In my opinion, you can use Celtic 3 for contrast setting.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |05 | real(5,function,value) | | | Change | If function is... | Contrast | | | 0: Set contrast to value, 0 thru 39. | | 1: Current contrast is returned by the function (Ans) | | (value argument is ignored for this) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- To store the contrast value in Ans, type in real(5

Good evening guys, so as of today, I'm starting to learn how to program in z80! I'm using a site for a tutorial, a different TokenIDE made for Raspbian, and my calculator. I coded this "Hello World" program and sent it, and tested it out. Sure enough, of how clumsy and stupid I am, I made a mistake that is so obvious but I didn't see. Crashed. And now there is one problem that shouldn't be harmful, but annoying. My Calculator ID is gone. I still know what it is, but I don't know how to get it back. Any help?

I’m fairly certain it isn’t possible. The way the 83 checks its battery level is in a binary fashion where there is only “good” or “bad”. The 84 checks in a way which allows for four discrete levels corresponding to each 25% of the battery. If I am not mistaken, the way the OS handles this is using only two bits. While there has to be some function that sets those bits, changing it would require modifying the OS.

If you really were that concerned about it, there is probably some hardware workaround where you could use the I/O port, but at that point its easier just to use a voltmeter anyways.
