Hi everyone! I'm a mathematics and applied physics double major in my junior year (ish, it's kinda complicated haha) of undergrad. I really love math and think it's incredibly beautiful, and I want to become a teacher someday to hopefully make a positive difference in young people's lives. Outside of stem-y stuff I play music, speedrun a couple games, and do a lot of reading :)
I've done some C# programming with unity, but my main language for solving problems I come across is python. I'm also sort of slowly learning haskell, but that's kind of on the back burner right now. I started writing little programs on my calculator in 10th grade health class to crunch numbers for me, and I want to try and make some more complex stuff (was maybe thinking about trying to throw a set theory visualizer together?).
Nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone,
I'm a 3D artist living in Sweden. I only do scripting (maxscript/python) at the moment, but I've always had an inclination towards programming. I recently found my old TI-83 plus and all the memories came back! I love the limitations it has. Right now I'm looking into the TI-83 plus' character map, trying to find the last few characters that are missing in the CHARS.8xp.

I've probably seen all movies about time travel.

Good to meet you all!

Hi, welcome to TIBD!

Trying to use TI Connect can be harrowing, so good luck :| I personally have had really consistent luck using [TiLP]. I'm assuming you are on Windows, though, and I hear having the TI Connect drivers and TiLP ones on the same machine causes lots of issues, so you'd have to be careful to purge TI Connect if you go that route.

Hi! I'm an undergraduate studying applied physics, and still holding on to a TI-89 that was my mom's when she was in high school (pretty sure it counts as a family heirloom, right?). I've been programming for awhile; my favorite language is Python, but I started with JavaScript/HTML/CSS using Khan Academy's series way back when it was first coming out. In middle school, I was bored in math class and so programmed my calculator to solve quadratics for me :) I never did a ton of programming because typing programs by hand when I could touch type was…mildly excruciating…but I finally got a graphlink cable and am trying to get things set up. Joined because TI Connect is testing my patience. Hobbies include but are not limited to going on long walks, reading (favorite author: Tolkien; ridiculous fact: I own four translations of Beowulf. It's a problem. Maria Headley's translation is incredibly funny!), DMing for my D&D group, baking, and picking up new time consuming hobbies (I am mostly joking, and yet…). Nice to meet y'all!

HI. I'm a 21 year old from Colorado. I've been using this website to learn how to code in TI basic for a few years now. The only other language I know is a little bit of Java. My goal here is to develop and release some strategy games. My first one, The Dog Game, is done, but unfortunately the AJAX error keeps me from posting it here. I did put it on ticalc.org though. I'm really grateful for this website and community as it has tremendously helped my development as a programmer!

Hey, name's Impulse! I'm a casual programmer who's from America, and I know a LOT of different languages, favorites are Lua and Node.js. I've been programming for around a year or two now, and I've gotten vaguely decent at it. I have a bunch of different hobbies, including programming of course, but also singing and art! I first learned about TI-Basic a while back from a video, and recently I got my mother's old TI-83 calculator, and remembered that you could program on it. With that sudden burst of inspiration, I did some research, and I learned how to program in TI-Basic from this site.

As for current projects, I'm using my TI-83 in conjunction with an Arduino to essentially put Discord on it, and if the Arduino can't store enough, I do have an extra Raspberry Pi I can use instead.

I'm glad to be here, and wish me luck!

Hello!! I am Hamburger317, I am a huge calculator enthusiast. I'm from California, and I only have a TI-84+, one of my friends has an entire collection of these things. I got it back in September 2021, and since I got that calculator, I have transformed from a D- student to an A- in math. Thanks to this calculator I now love math (sometimes). I like to make videos, draw, play games, like any other teenager.
I'm okay at making programs in TI-Basic, I made a game where you fish and it plays well (just need to optimize it). I've read all of the Starter Kit but there's still much I have to learn! A pleasure to meet you all!

I am attempting to use the trace command in a mini-golf program as a cursor. There isn't any graph to trace, but it allows me to freely move the cursor about the screen. I am not sure why, but when I try to use the trace command, It won't go until the rest of the program is run, even if there are more lines of code. Does anyone know why this is? If you do, do you have any way to fix it?

Thanks,

CalcNerd
