In Portal, you are a test subject at The Aperture Science Enrichment Program and are testing The recent invention of the Portal Gun! Yay! It allows you to shoot portals and move between them. Those who have played the official version will remember GlaDos… And she's back in the calculator version! GlaDOS is your narrator and guide and is the one that will monitor all your tests. But when the tests are over… Watch out! the game isn't over yet… |

This game is amazinginly fun, because first of all, I am stupid(so I couldn't get past the first level). And second I am amazed on how you acomplished this game, the programming must have taken soo long, and I am in awe that someone could think of this brain boggling game!
Kudos to you my bro!

I know! This is certainly one of my all time favourites! It is so fantastic that I don't understand why it had only a rating of 2 up until today!
Everybody must try this game.
PS. By the way, what made you change your mind about your anonymity?
whats anoymity?
Anonymity is a noun, similar to "identity status". If you are referring to somebody's anonymity, you are talking about their identity status, whether it is withheld or public. Anonymous is the adjective, in which if something is submitted anonymously, it is being submitted without the person's name on it (so it can't be traced back to that person).
In other words, what made you change your mind about your personal identity privacy?
I was curious because there seems to be a great deal of people on the internet who retain their identity, myself not being one of them.
oh i dont know really thats just my Xbox live (what a rip off) gamertag
but thank you for the definition
coughsequelcough
what?
Bless you
Oh, god, I loved this game. Then I got wiped… Maybe I'll DL it again when I have time.

Ha! Just did the first level, and the game is amazingly puzzling. I must say, I am impressed.

I know i didn't really try-sorry builderboy-but i looked at the concept of the game and it looked very cool.
but i suk at those type of games….hehe
but i think from my comment i brought your game to fame
ha i rime, but i kant sphell.
woops sorry
I think a ran into a weird bug while playing portal. I was playing it right before a physics test and it worked perfect. I didn't get to finish the level I was on, and I saved. I then commenced with the physics test, and after the test I proceeded to try the level again. However, this time, the level developed some strange holes, and the game won't work properly. I was able to finish the level partially, but I reached a point where it became impossible. What happened?

it fixed… automatically

thats strange, because all the save game info does is save your level progress… not any level info at all.
What kind of holes and errors do you mean?
What happened was some of the blocks had their top row missing, so the + fell through. Some were just fine, though. I restarted the same level about 10 times, and it did the same thing. I was actually able to almost finish, but the block in front of the door was bad which rendered it impossible. Then, after I came back an hour later, it fixed without me doing anything. That is very weird for it to not work and then fix by itself. (or else you secretly implemented a self regenerating code…)
This happened on level six or something, the one before the stair level. And I don't think I did anything special except flip Radian to Degree for the Physics test.

Aha! I remember this bug now! I need to upload the new version as soon as I can. You're using a ti84 aren't you! The bug occurs when you visit the mode menu, and flag is set which makes text also erase the row beneath it, and this wreaks havoc on Portal, as you have seen. The only way to reset the flag is to visit the matrix editor, or reset your calculator. Fortunately it is easily detectable, and in the new version it stops the program if it detects this and instructs you to reset your calculator.
So for all you people who have this problem, never fear! reset your calculator and all will be well!
In the meantime i need to find my upload cable.
I have the glitch and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. Help!
Also, is there any way to quit the game without saving? I make a lot of custom levels and while playing I hit mode to quit out of the level. Then on the main menu when i hit resume it brought up my custom level, not the level I was on in the campaign.
What OS are you using? And if you beat the game completely, you can load up any level on command, but unfortunately it looks like my original code had a bug where it saves your progress as a custom level D: If you haven't beaten the game yet, just press [Sin] in the main menu and enter the level number to jump to that level :P
I haven't beaten it yet, it seems that level three is impossible to beat with the glitch. Actually I know about sin from studying the code. I think that you have to input the #23 first and then the level number. Thanks anyway.
Which glitch? Because it is definitely possible :)
When i play the game sometimes on certain blocks the little plus falls through. I'm not using any shells like mirage or ion, my os is just the one preloaded on my calc. I'm using a ti-84 plus silver edition. And I really don't want to reset my calc. I have backed it up several times but it is such a pain transfering everything back to my calc. Also, I usually design and program in basic but sometimes I switch to hexadecimal and make apps. I takes over three hours just to load all my apps onto my calc.
What OS? Also try visiting the Matrix Editor Menu before playing and see if that fixes it.
i think its version 2.55 by the texus instruments producers. I tried the matrix editor already but its still glitched.
Ah yeah that Operating System unfortunately has an unfixable bug that interferes with Portal D: Portal was written before that OS came out, so the bug was fixable before then.
No!!!!!!!!!
Aah! No! I don't want to reset my calc! But you mentioned visiting the matrix editor. What would I do from there?
And if I can't fix it without resetting the calc, how soon will the new version be posted? Or is it already there. I downloaded this a few months ago.
It's an amazing game, builderboy! Maybe an admin should put it on the showcases page… (I mean it)
\Mapar007
thank you! That would be a huge honor, it really would. Some of those games are the originals that I learned to program off of, and to thing that i would join their ranks…
The stupid hardware installation wizard won't let me install the calculator hardware.
Do I need to do this to download games?

Sorry, couldn't withhold myself to point out some little problems… :p
I beat the whole game and would like to mention the following:
- Use the fast circle routine for displaying the splash screen's circle
- Clarify the purpose in lvl 8
- Provide an exit feature in the editor.
- I'd keep the save lists unarchived for GarbageCollect purposes, but that's my opinion
Good stuff:
- Great graphics!!!!!!!!!
- The upgrade cheat (which I'll not give you :p) is nice!
edit: maybe you should list a few hints and tips, because in the beginning the game is a bit hard. But once you get the hang of it, the levels are peanuts… :p
\Mapar007
I must agree with Mapar about the hints thing. I also agree… with everything he said, except for that he won't give the cheat I think the cheat should be removed. But that's just me.
/Socks
I believe Mapar was referring to the super-dooper Portal gun — not the level jumper. Unless you believe the super-dooper Portal gun be removed, in which case I disagree. That is a bonus you find out at the end of the game… a reward for conquering the adventure.
oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about the cleanup, builderboy, Pic1 and GDB1 remain (but that might be because I used a basb app, I recall somewhere that DelVar doesn't work in basb)
i cant get past the level with the three core programs. there seems to be no door. is it suppost to be like this?
Timothy Foster - @tfAuroratide
Auroratide.com - Go here if you're nerdy like me
heheh, That is the level that most people get confused on, although i believe i did all I could. I hope you beat it!
thanks for the help. i cant believe i did not think about that, i mean alpha is in big letters at the bottom of the screen.
but i still dont get how i'm suppose to destroy anything when the things in the corner. but ill figure out that much by my self.
but one more question. did you program every level to run separately or do you have one loop that runs every level?
Haha, your still not thinking with portals ;)
It uses one engine(one loop) to run every level. The level data is stored in lists at the beginning of the program.
It was interesting, because since level 8 is so different, i had to add a lot of "If level=8" statements.
lol
well, that explains why it seemed like all i could find when i looked at your code was an engine for level 8. it was because so much of it was specifically for only level 8. =D
wow! the first game to get a rating in the double digits! Congratulations builderboy!
wOOt!!
Thanks again for everyone!
:D
i loved this game. i'm built for this type of game too. only took me about 45 minutes to finish it off, most of it on the last level which agonized me to infinite extent. i love the last comment about still being alive ;) i'm going to kill you if you don't make that sequel, lol. someone said to add this to showcases? Definitely.
Yes, Builderboy you've made an Insanely good game. Congrats again!
If you liked Portal, then you'll probably like all of Builderboy's games and my "Drifter". Happy Gaming!
Find more info about my projects on Omnimaga:

Wait, what other games!? By the way, I was looking at drifter and probably will download it soon but the only thing that made me wait was the file size. All the games plus the basic and flash games i create really seem to eat up my ram. :)
You can archive them and they won't eat up your RAM :D You said you have a Ti84+Silver so you should have more than enough Archive for all the programs and applications you want. Also you can check out some of my other released games Here. Or head over to Omnimaga.org to see whatever I might be working on at the time :)
My ram problem fixed! Just not in the way I expected. Some mysterious force jammed up my calc, but also archived my programs. I had to take the batteries out but everything was archived so it didn't really erase anything. I now have about 25000 ram but only 75000 arc. Oh, I downloaded some of your other games, but I'm having problems with trapped. I explained in further detail in the trapped forum.
Only 75 Kilobytes Archive? You may want to free up some of your Archive space by deleting some apps that are simply translations of apps into other languages, such as CSheetFr (CellScheet in French), OrganEsp (Organizer in Spanish), and Deutsch (The actual OS in German). You'll get hundreds of kilobytes extra.
Actually, archived variables eat up only a small amount of RAM.
Sunrise 3 Progress: 30%
Size: around 20 KB, not including the save lists and in-game RAM.
@ ztrumpet
I got drifter and its really fun, but I'm stuck on the fourth level. Also, I know it greatly increases the file site, but it would be nice if you added instructions in the game. Yes. I've read the read-me.
Thankz! I'm glad you liked it ^^
As for sequels, there are plans for one, but they are far off and probably are not going to be finished soon :( I might release a Portal Gold version though, with a bit more puzzles and an updated engine ;)
