What the community thinks:
First of all…WOW! Amazing graphics!
Second of all, a severely warm welcome to the community…with milk! XD
Third of all, I think I could suggest some improvements.
If you ever want to expand on this, please contact me. I'll be delighted to help.
Thank you for your comment and tips!
I must say that I started making this and while I was making it, I saw many points of improvements. Now that I have made a list of all the things I want to improve, I started making Cookie Clicker 3. I can tell you that there will be a complete GUI change, upgrades, game modes, highscores and achievements. It will take a lot longer to make than this one (I made this one in 1 day).
Your tips really help, because I didn't think about using lists instead of variables and I will make a readme, although there was a help page in the menu. I must say that I just like to close a paren because I'm used to do it in Java.
And thank you for the offer to help. I was actually thinking about making a version for +C and since you have one I would really like to help in such a collaboration! I could make the GUI and all the other graphics, but I don't know how the coding works since I don't have a +C. I will contact you when I finished CC3 so we can make Cookie Clicker +C or what the name may be :D
Sounds good to me. And I will happily work on it with you!
Just don't call it Cookie Clicker +C. That name is taken…by me.
Throughout my time as a TI-BASIC programmer, the majority of the games created in this language fall in one of two categories.
A. The game is poorly created and slow to the point it isn't any fun. Or…
B. The game is too ambitious and tries to be something the language simply cannot do, like a very fluid fast-paced platformer.
This is not one of those games. Cookie Clicker 2 by kdnooij is a PERFECT example of an excellent game made in TI-BASIC. The concept is very simple, the controls straightforward, but most of all, it is REASONABLE. The author does not try to create a groundbreaking model that excels the limitations of the language, nor does he blow the game out of proportion by trying something as intense such as a 1st person shooter.
Instead, he takes what he has and makes something awesome out of it. THAT is what I believe TI-BASIC programmers should aim for nowadays. Sure, it's fun trying to push yourself to create intensive-RAM gameplay and pushing your goals higher, but come on, they're just calculators. Not monster-gaming computers. xD
I do have a few criticisms with the program though. For instance, the second screen has numbers too long for the boxes they contain. They look very buggy and low-quality, as well as drastically reducing the readability of these numbers when they're combined together. I suggest for the author to truncate them, replacing 40,000 with 40E3, 200,000 with 200E3, and so-forth. Also, the last option on the 1st screen with the pickaxe (I believe it's the Cookie Mine?) is actually 10,000, instead of 1000 of what it says. It also should be truncated to 10E3.
And I do admit, a readme.txt would be very useful. You can't view the help page in the menu if the game has been started already, which would be the case for the majority of players.
So overall, excellent graphics, very fast and fluid gameplay, and an absolutely perfect game concept for the TI-84+. I look forward to seeing what else kdnooij has up his sleeve. ^.^
changeing it to numbers like "40E3" seems very annoying to read, why not "4E4", and "2E5"
I second
Toothless the Dragon's request. I loved playing this game, as repetitive as it may be, but the numbers were extremely difficult to decipher. Other than that, beautiful work!
The waste basket is the writer’s best friend.
Does anyone else have a corner of a square at the top left of the screen? I have a ti 84 plus… Also is there a fix for this. The square/rectangle covers the cookie a bit …
Alternatively:
i want the source code for this so i can manually input it. If someone could share it that would be great!
I can easily give you the source code for this, but there is a small problem. It looks like the program uses picture files, which can cause problems if you try to use the program without it. I'll post it tomorrow when I'm on my Pi, but it's better if you download this if you can. :)
EDIT: Here is the source code, but the programs has 3 image files that you need for the graphics.
Hewwo, my name is Achak Claw. I was formerly BioHazard.

does it work for TI-84 plus CE cause i want to play it on mines.
